I'd say MacDougall, Naiqama and Mika would all definitely be in our top 25. The others I admit are fringe.

I also said 'a few' out of those big 4 we have been rumoured to sign, meaning maybe only 2 out of the 4. Eg. Snowden and Idris. Then the fringe/depth players we cull to be replaced by guys coming out of NYC/Centurions.

Is it that unfeasible?

bullsh*t - the 2004 Ball/ 2006 Flegg side was our best ever crop of juniors. Players like Snowden, Mullen, McManus, Pato, Uate, Walsh, Dureau, Jonathon Wright, Steve Gordon, Terrence Seu Seu have all gone on to play firstgrade, and the first 5 could well be SOO players.
I can't think of another year we have got 5 firstgraders - let alone 5 SOO players.
Average is one or two a year.

Smith tried to buy in an entire team of imports at under 20s level, and all he got was kids other teams didn't want.

Glad to see we've had one decent crop in the past decade Roopy. Although you wouldn't feed half that lot you've listed mate. Tinkler has the opportunity to make our junior system the best around with boom local juniors falling out of trees on a regular basis.

There are maybe two or three squads as good from any club in the last 10 years - and none even close in our history.

We were also the only club in decades to name a full team of local products in firstgrade in Hagan's last year.

I know you are going to again declare all our players are rubbish, but other clubs couldn't even dream of doing that.

We don't have a problem breeding our own. We might have had a problem keeping the right ones, but only under Smith did we throw out a whole generation of our juniors to replace them with nuffies - and the only two of them to play any firstgrade were Mika and Tovo, who make Tanner and Mueller look good.

There is a lot of talk about salary cap pressure for next season coming from the club.. I'm obviously not privy to their finances but the following players are off contract at the end of this season

Isaac De Gois
Junior Sau
Matt Hilder
Marvin Karawana
Keith Lulia
Cameron Ciraldo
Shannon McDonnell
Peter Mata'utia
Kurt Gidley
Wes Naiqama
Constantine Mika
Steve Southern
Adam MacDougall

If those are all the players off contract at the end of the season I'd re-sign -

Degois
Lulia
Hilder
Mata'utia
Gidley
Sau (depending on how much $$$ he wants)

I never declared our players are rubbish Roops. You make some good points re letting the wrong ones go. Smithy had to get rid of an average bunch of first graders. Upon reflection, he let one diamond go (Snowden) but the rest were rocks.
