That’s my point. I know we lack star power, but we’ve had a few ‘stars’ every year since 2000 and in general it’s done nothing for us.

Next year it’s likely we’ll have guys like Naquima, Sue, MWK, Chee-Kam etc who have been regular first graders for us missing out, plus buys like MCQueen, Benji etc. Sure none are game changers but all are first graders and will be pushing for spots. We’ve never had depth or competition for spots.

Last year we couldn’t have had a worse year on and off the field. Three coaches, major off field drama, stars not putting in and a guy actively trying to throw games yet still came 14th. I’m. It saying we’ll make the 8 but I fail to see how we’ll be any worse in 2018.

All the Sydney eggspurts had us missing the 8 in 2017 too. Then we finished top 4... I see Matty Johns et all are already at it again...

Can’t wait to watch the head scratching and reasoned introspective about how you could be so wrong, that typifies a NSW fan...

Yeah didn't think too much into, regardless McQueen just makes the loss by 14 instead of 20

And is Benji at this stage of his career any better than Brooks and Reynolds starting?

McQueen is coming off neck surgery and won’t have played in 8 months by round 1. Aloiai was our best forward at the end of last year and I see ET and Lawrence as better players then him.

Ivan didn’t play a back on the bench at any stage last year. I think Benji is there for injuries.

I don’t see Naquima in our best 17 and hardly any tigers fans do either.

Like I said though our side is very open and there is a lot of competition for spots, you could make a case for probably 27 players in the squad to make the 17 which can only be a good thing.

I don’t recall too many saying the Broncos will miss the 8 this year. It’s the Broncos so I don’t think you can ever confidently say they’ll miss the 8 but surely even the most one eyed Bronco fan would admit that side looks weaker then the previous few years
