Interesting thoughts there from JT & it's hard to disagree with him, they have been creating opportunities but execution has let them down. It was so evident in the video when Hornby could/should have played what was in front of him by throwing the dummy or holding it up a bit longer.I have noticed this numerous times this year but it still keeps happening.I think if Soward was in this situation it may well be different or perhaps Kyle.I'm sure our attack will click but lets hope the season is not over for us when it does,i hope it is against the raiders because this week is our best chance ever of beating them down there.

Good Morning Father and greetings from sunny Wollongong
I might add I can see the Western Stand roof from my desk and at this moment it remains insitu. I hear talk they may look to reintroduce the dogtrack if there are too many more 10k crowds.

I think Taylor speaks well on our current attack.

They are probably trying too hard but thats a natural reaction when attempting to rectify a perceived failing. Lack of cohesion becomes infectious as does winning, its just a matter of which one arrives first.

I strongly believe we will trounce the green slime Monday night

looking at the footage taylor used as examples i can only imagine what we could do if we had a halfback..
i counted at least 4 opportunities where any side with a decent half would have scored by taking the correct option and simply playing whats in front of them.. only to see Hornby muff it.
i have been the biggest Hornby fan over the years, a true legend of the club... but geez he's embarrassing himself at the moment..

not a bad little spot kanahooka, have relo's in dapto, the old greyhound track at the gong, visited many times in the old days, agree about trying too much, need to settle things down a bit, they know they have to lift their game, one moment there on the 5th hunt got tackled, forwards shouldn't be taking the ball on the last.

Well said!

If what coach Price said in his recent interview is true, then it is easy to understand why Hornby is happy to play to the end of 2013 and why he is not too concerned about the current situation.

Great insight from Taylor. Totally agree with his comments but does that show that the players cannot read what is in front of them or that they can but just play as per the structure? Is that a coach or player issue? Sounds like it is an easy fix but time will tell.

Funny you should mention players Pat read the following.

Canberra curse strikes fear in Dragons: Simon Woolford

CHRIS WILSON
27 Jun, 2012 12:00 AM
He's played for both clubs and Simon Woolford says it's not a myth - Canberra's curse over the Dragons is very real.
Woolford has given an insight into Canberra's haunting record over the Dragons, claiming St George Illawarra players have traditionally been spooked by the contest and have "talked themselves into being beaten".
The Dragons have named three former Raiders players for Monday night's clash - Daniel Vidot, Josh Miller and Bronx Goodwin - and they will travel by bus on the day of the game as they search for answers to arrest the long losing streak against Canberra

The Raiders have won 12 of their past 13 matches against the Dragons and haven't lost to them at home since 2000.Woolford, finished his career at the Dragons and played in their last win against Canberra, in Wollongong back in 2007.

But he revealed Dragons players were mentally scarred by Canberra's decade of dominance."I think they talked themselves into being beaten by the Raiders most of the time," Woolford said.

"They're well aware of the lack of success they've had against Canberra, especially down here [in the ACT]."They used to often joke about having the bye that weekend and not even bothering coming down.

"Every time [the Dragons] would come up against the Raiders it was always that sort of talk, it's certainly something they think about a lot."I often joked about it, but deep down it's not a joke to them. It quite annoys them that they can't win down here.

"It's something they've always wanted to fix but they've never been able to."
The Dragons have the odds stacked in their favour this week. It's understood coach Steve Price has decided to travel to Canberra on the day of the match, replicating what has been successful for him as a Dragons coach in the lower grades.

Although they will be missing Origin stars Ben Creagh, Trent Merrin, Brett Morris and Beau Scott, the Dragons face an injury-depleted Raiders outfit terribly out of form.

Josh Dugan, who is one of the injured, scored the winning try in the dying seconds last year when the Dragons capitulated 24-19, having led 18-6 at half-time.

"Last year they did everything but win, the way they got beaten down here last year was ridiculous," Woolford said. "But they found a way to lose it and the Raiders found a way to win. It's an amazing monkey on the Dragons' back, that's for sure."

Im not astute enough to know whether JT cherry-picked those examples, or whether those examples represent our issues overall, but end of the day its like you hear Johns/Lockyer and co going on about.. a half who plays whats in front of him.. but this is why a good half is so hard to come across.. but lets hope we come up with an option for next year. Im not sure Soward is reading the situation well either, he used to make a lot of clean line-breaks, but his style is different now, he has had to put a lot of energy this year to look like he is running at the line, after criticism in the media etc.. and it hasnt looked natural.. i put it down to just not being in great form.

The things that get me going though with our attack:
- Forward Hit-ups - its often the 4th tackle before we actually put on an attacking play.. kills me
- Getting caught with the ball on the 5th, this has become a regular occurrence
- Putting the ball up on the 5th tackle and in no way competing for the catch, id atleast like to come up with something that gives us a 50/50 chance, or force a mistake.

Father,

Kanahooka is not the end of the world but you can see it from there.

Whilst you have the Tempe River we have Mullet Creek, which is a catchment area of historical significance for car chassis' and shopping trolleys.

Miller will go nuts ( if he stays conscious ) and lead the pack to victory.

Crossed eyed and knocked out should be put into our victory song somewhere

I'd like to see him take the madness off the field at games end.
It's just a thought.

Dapto Dogs is a brilliant night out Big Pat.
I have had the pleasure of catching my mates dog there where it ran a very creditable 8th beaten 19 lengths but desperately unlucky after drawing the squeeze box.
