Time to give this thread a bump.

Australian films certainly are unique....some great stuff out there. Today seems like a great day to finally see "Wake in Fright".

I’ve never heard of Wake in Fright. Will look into it.
we have some great file like the Mad Max but the list is full off ordinary films. Why are so many Australian films bleak?

Glad to see that my namesake has more than a few mentions, twisted f**ks haha

I'm very surprised that The Tracker has not been mentioned at all.
It's a goto for me.
Also one of my all-time favourite sound tracks.

The Tracker is great, I forgot that one. If I actually put some time and thought into it I could probably do a decent top 25.

Good bump. Some crackers on peoples lists.

Danger Close is another worthy contender since the thread was created,

I guess each nation has their own unique style of films. Because of limitations to budgets with many Australian films, we pretty much have to do drama type films very well.
I love Australian films for one main reason.....their pure unpredictability. Mainstream Hollywood sticks to formula far too many times. A good Australian film....you never quite know where the path takes you.

Jane Campion's Holy Smoke with Kate Winslett and Harvey Keitel is pretty good too. Not strictly an "Aussie" movie I guess but filmed here.
