I like the Ricky Stuart method

Tell the press the team should get beaten by 50 a few times in the tournament.
Tell half the squad that their services wont be needed after the tournament has ended.

Should get the best out of the boys.

It would start well before we are about to run out and it all depends on the strengths of the team.

One thing you must say is when you are in the attacking zone back yourselves and move them around. It is all about getting the defenders to make mistakes so make them make plenty of decisions so you have more of a chance.

If I had Fiji I would have been running the Sims boys off the second receiver all game when on the attack, you want guys with that power attacking the fringe.

In defence it would be something like get a body in front of the ball runners and watch dummies. But once again it is dependent on the teams that are playing. I liked the way Fiji kept it tight early but they needed to chance their arm a little more in the attacking zone.

Spend all week working on the short drop out that you will pull out on the opening play of the game, there's no way that can backfire.

I know its been said before, but honestly I completely disagree with the approach Fiji took to this match.

To mine they lacked intensity and aggression.

My plan would be - its a one off. Its do or die. Big hits, smack them round in defence. Push it a bit in defence, and slow down their play the balls.

In attack, aggression, aggression aggression, and then spin it - try it on, push some passes. Kick early, or run it.

All of the above is risky, but IMO if you dont try it you end up like France.. or dare I say Fiji. a penalty goal and no reward from a team that wasnt that badly outplayed.

Also as someone above said, the refs will win the games for Australia anway so have a go.

Now that I've thought about it again, I'd put a premium on defence and just limiting points for the first 60.

+/- could actually end up pretty important for Fiji.

Got play to your strengths, slow the game down, and maximise your 50/50 chances.
