Cant help but think Zac is the end product of years of dysfunctional management at SGI.
As much as I love the club, over the last ten years or so it is fair to say we have been a bit of a sad excuse of a football team.
Just as much as the supporters love the club, I'm sure (most of) the payers do too, and it must be extremely frustrating to be hamstrung week in week out, by inept senior management decisions that constantly affect the team.
I believe Zac played less that he was capable of in multiple games last year to try to facilitate the exit of Anthony Griffin. I'm sure he thought he was doing the right thing, but, these actions and attitude would not have gone unnoticed by the senior people at SGI.
He has been (and is) IMO a very unhappy camper.
Even now, when he misses a goal kick or a tackle etc, I wonder about the veracity of the attempt.

I'm sorry, but this is complete bullshit!

No player tries to play badly or tries to miss goals. (Except for match fixing, which I hope almost never happens.)

I don't know if you can blame the board directly or indirectly for Zac's choices here.
Isn't it the case that he wants to box and Saints said no? Clearly he sees big dollars down that road and that dwarfs any loyalty he has to the Red V and all that goes with it.
Plus he had that goose Fittler calling him "the Gifted One" before he'd even pulled on a boot in First Grade. You think that kind of hype doesn't go to young guys heads? He probably has the irits that he isn't playing Origin and blames our poor form for this. However, we weren't performing well as a club when Brad Mackay was selected for NSW/Australia - cos he was a gun footballer and a nice guy. Perhaps the truth lies closer to home - Zac hasn't played Origin cos for much of his career he has been unremarkable. And you can't blame the board for that.
So, Zac plays his guts out for a few weeks ro spite Flannno for putting him on the wing and to get invited round to Brad Arthur's place for a meatloaf and the rest is history.
We've lost better players than you in the past, Zac, and will do in the future no doubt. Only difference is that unlike O'Connor, Riddell, Thommo, etc you WON'T be missed.

Still like to know who the F wit was that would pay him 875k for 2026! It’s a no brainer that we would offload him the first chance we got. The fact that he requested a release is a win for the club as long as we replace him with a elite player.
Well, I’d be looking to talent scout and find exciting youngsters from the NSW cup etc and bring them on.

The beauty of flanno is that he has shown he can take factory or rejects and do something with them.

So you can get away with a sub marquee and a factory for 875.

Whether Zac can resolve the eels issues, I doubt it, but Brad is in a world of hurt.

Zac is a talent, but the eels have a lot of talent already.

Poor parra fans thinking lomax is the missing piece to a premiership.. Unbelievable. Hopefully we let him go early or play him in reserves and give someone else a chance to get some gametime he is no longer a dragon mentally and worse of all he is an Eel. What a dumb decision hopefully lawrie follows him there so they can all paint eachothers nails and play musical chairs.

A building year with benefits.

Only 2 years for Flanno to turn the roster and build a competitive side reflects poorly on your management.

I’ve seen enough to give him another year already and get serious.

No more trial runs.

Now there lays the problem , all good with letting him go but as you say ( replace him with a elite player ) If we replace him with a lesser player than Lomox , then we are going backwards ..........

Flanno is signed to the end of 2026 Silverdale. Do you mean tacking on another year to that?

This is not actually in relation to our season but feel I need to make a comment as some of the commentary / character assassination on Lomax is IMO beyond ridiculous.

Taking it as a given some of his behavior / actions has been juvenile, embarrassing, and plain stupid but to suggest he has been or will be unprofessional in respect of his actual football on the paddock or his time at training is simply unfounded.

He has trained and played hard (none better IMO) and indeed tried to be better by employing a sprint coach (which was criticised and ultimately outlawed) and a goal kicking coach from one of the very best that ever kicked a goal and yet some idiots in this place panned him for that as well.

He didn't do either of those to be worse at them he tried to better himself and therefore the team.

The boxing raised it's head a few years ago when he injured his wrist so is not something that is new but obviously something that he has had in the back of his mind for some period of time and it should be remembered that when he took on the 6 year contract he was 19 or 20 years of age so probably had no concept of how to set up a contract that had inclusive vision as to his future.

People questioning why he might want out so maybe reflect on this

1. He is the best right centre in the club but not playing that position because somehow that is good for the team and he needs to make that sacrifice but that is not incumbent on others.
2. Was moved to left centre to accommodate someone else rather than the club buying a proper left centre.
3. Was moved to right wing to accommodate a coach's pet who is incapable of being the best right centre in the club and also ruined a perfectly good centre wing partnership worth 20+ tries in a season. (Hook syndrome)
4. Was promised a shot at FB which hasn't eventuated, yet has had to play a couple of cameo appearances there due to the ineptness of the incumbent who must be maintained at all cost. (Mc Fookknuckle syndrome)
5. Has long suffered at the hands of a halfback totally incapable of providing the men outside him with early ball or get them into open space. (Pander to Ben syndrome)
6. Has had to endure watching journeymen, loafers, imposters, bludgers, show ponies etc be constantly picked in 1st grade despite their abysmal efforts yet he had to cop being dropped and / or moved out of position because somehow that was good for the team.

By all means have an opinion about him as a player and worth the whatever $$$ he is earning but don't find ridiculous reasons to dump on him because he sees he has a better future somewhere else and on the surface looks willing to take a significant hair cut to achieve that.

No doubt he hasn't achieved the heights once perceived for him nor is he worth $850K if that's the number but IMO Lomax only knows one way to play and that is not to run dead or dog it or as some have implied not give a shit about whether he kicks a goal or not.

Regardless of him leaving at the end of the season on form he stills deserves to be in the 1st grade team and the supporters deserve the 1st grade team to have it's best 17 on the team sheet but alas that doesn't happen.
