I don't think its about playing wing, and I don't think there's any great rift in the playing group.

My impression is that Lomax wants to do boxing in the off season and the club haven't let him and won't let him. Lomax probably figures he wont be happy unless he can scratch the boxing itch and he might even make up some of the lost money in the contract deal by doing it.

Its the only explanation that makes sense to me

Zac is a SOO level winger. Well done Shane Flanagan, I had great doubts.
Yeah, Flanagan was spot on.

I bet even he didn't expect such an increased level of output from Zac at wing. If he was a racehorse, you'd get him swabbed.

Had we been able to convince him to hold on his decision to leave till after SOO, and he continued with this purple patch. None of us would be even talking about overs, he'd be worth every cent we were going to pay 2025/6 - AT WING.

Unfortunately, the horse has bolted.

I've noticed this, if we don't score a try early, it's almost game over for us.. Something psychological happens.. The dolphins game was a good example.. We bombed early opportunities and ended up with a duck egg.

Zac in particular can get in a real funk of a mood if something goes wrong, and goalkicking becomes a lottery.. Its probably his biggest issue.
We seem to love kicking off and setting the defensive bar on their line.

4 kick-offs - 3 Wins

The only kick-off we had, and lost the game, was against the Cowboys where we blew a respectable lead.

When the other team kicks off and we are hammered on our line first set, we seem intimidated and lose.

The NRL are getting rid of it aren’t they?

We would of let him box but we had some issues around insurance

I think the club has every right to stop him from boxing, We are not paying him $800k a year to get his head stoved in by some thug. Regardless of insurance he could still get a season ending injury anyway. If that is his reason for leaving then he's already been punched around the head a few too many times.

Yep agree. Imagine him boxing in the off season and screwing his shoulder and needing surgery with a 6 month rest. f**k that, you’re paid to play league not box. Back the club on this one and I’m a Lomax fan

When I boxed, it wasn’t much fun being hit in the head.

Even with the headgear, you can get a three day migraine.

But it’s good for fitness.

In a scenario where you keep winning and make the finals ( heading that way) with Zac killing it on the wing, Brad might have a real problem. He’d have to figure out ways to convince zac it’s his best position.

I was also thinking, it might help Brad if Zac is selected on the wing for soo.

Soo needs a kick up the backside, especially when a lot of the best players in the game can’t compete.

I also think the two grand final coaches should coach soo for the following year. Then it becomes a merit test like the players endure and a reward for the coaches.

State alliances and politicking shouldn’t matter.

An extract from the above, red hot from the eels:

“ Out of respect for (his) current club” give us a break.

They don’t need to provide any further comment, because the damage is done by virtue of the announcement.

Its all pr for their own long suffering fans and a limp wristed offer of a handshake to SGI, while the rest of the eel remains contorted in crossed knots.

They were into him like a rat up a drainpipe and this is virtue signalling nonsense.

They didn’t need to say that they were not making any further comment.

How heroic and respectful of them. I’m deeply moved by their sensitivity.

Disappointed that it’s got to this but at the end of the day if he wants out so badly then so be it. Personally I won’t be booing the bloke this year cause he puts in every game for us. Wish he was staying but he’s not so it’s time to let it go and cheer him on for the rest of the season

Real opportunity for Flanagan at a later point in the season if he does have a change of mind and Parramatta are serious about wanting Lomax to join them for the run home to the finals, depending on where both clubs are placed.
No thanks to Sivo, Matterson and a few other names that have been tossed up in recent times.
Young Blaize Talagi and an experienced prop forward would suit our needs for 2025.

It is very sad in a way to see Zac has officially been signed by the Eels for 4 years after this year. I hope he puts everything in to his remaining games with us in 2024.

I have my doubts that he will be a world beater at the Eels but he will be joining a squad of players who have been together for some time and with Mitchell Moses calling the shots with the kicks, you can expect Lomax to be doing his thing by trying to out jump and catch the ball and set up a try as we have been getting him to do.

I know that he wanted out for reasons he and those in the administration would know and his leaving will open the door for someone else to help us become a stronger team.

I wish Lomax all the best at Parra. He has been great and if not for poor management/coaching in the past, he would have possibly been happier than what he is now and not even thought about leaving his club. Based on his performance against the Tigers he will be putting in 100%. He has to anyway if he wants to play rep footy which he seems a lot closer to doing so, thanks to Flanno. After Origin if Saints are still in the frame for finals I am sure he will be even more determined to win games so he can finish his Dragons stint on a high playing finals. How good would it be if Saints end up making finals at the expense of Parra.

Couldn’t have timed things better with Lomax just signing with Parra. Let’s see how the Lomax / Tuipolotu combo goes this week. Would be a funny situation if they kill it and Bird can’t get back in the team.
