Zac played his heart out for us in his last year, but was it for us? or was it a point to prove? Loved him when I first met him on his debut. Nice family. He developed a bit of an attitude in the years after and it was really only in the last year
that we got the best out of him. Happy to see him go and best of luck to him, I guess. He better not try any of the stirring funny stuff with our boys though or I think there will be fisty cuffs. ( ie jumping on ex play mates backs like he did to Frizz etc and mouthing off).

All said and done
We have moved on and he's boring now

One thing I suggest everyone does (which I spent a little bit of time doing over the break while enjoying a few beers with the cricket on in the background)...

Go back and read some of the match day threads from 2022 & 2023 where there was a lot of scathing criticism for Lomax (and funnily enough the feedback for Ben Hunt was actually pretty good for the most part).

I put Lomax in the same category as a lot of the blokes from the first 10 (early) years of the joint venture. Supremely talented, great enough to be selected for state and country, but attitude and continued application will be a big factor as to whether or not he reaches the 'holy grail' as an individual at club level (and funnily enough he's about to be coached by one of these said players from the early JV years).

The Dragons give Lomax a no-penalty early release to join Parramatta. Now R360 will compensate Parramatta for a Lomax's breach of contract.

Who is running our club?

They probably went to the same school as our useless lot.

Spent more time in afternoon detention than learning anything.

Lomax cut and run because amongst other gripes, Flanno had the audacity to tell him where was going to play.

You couldn’t make that up.

it’s no surprise Lomax is abandoning his post yet again.

And may as well play for Australia as a reward. That’s how we roll.

Big clubs and marquee players get the chocolates, the rest of us suffer.

Lomax left us to play centre. Now, reported leaving Parra in the same position.

To be honest, can't begrudge the bloke due to the cabbage. Only problem is he may not be allowed to come back.

It may all fall over and still has got a contract. If not, there will be a club that will pick him up.

I thought he left SGI on pretty ordinary terms and let a lot of people down.

His infamous dinner with Arthur. His cut in salary. His demands to play where he wanted instead of what was best for his employer and you guys. His carry on during his testimonial and feigned love for his mates.

And it’s not as if he got the same love and respect at the eels.

I don’t hate him, but he’s clearly Zac first.

I prefer more loyalty. Probably age.

I guess the clubs could do more to keep players engaged and also better options for their post career future.

Clubs should be linking their loyal players to tangible opportunities in the future.

There’s a billion things they can do if they wanted to, but it’s not high on the agenda.

I remember that all of club day you had which I thought was a good idea. But more is needed and it should be an ongoing proper set up.

It’s important and nice to have shared past experiences, but also to partake and engage contemporaneously.

If players don’t want to play NRL, off they go. I don’t really care because the game itself holds it own.

We’ve all seen willing junior games that have been better than one sided nrl games with “stars” on holiday.

Eels fans going off angrily about Zacs abandonment of them for the Bahrain Bats or whatever.

Well what did they expect?

He can earn millions more having a holiday on the wing in some kind of dictatorship.

Get on the orange juice.

The life of Reilly!

If he had an out clause re Brad Arthur or not playing centre then he is well within his rights.

If he didn't have an out clause then he is just a proper dick but not on his own in respect of that.

His manager also has plenty of answering to do and if he doesn't he should be deregistered.

If I recall correctly, Zac started losing his crap when Flanno was appointed.

I suspect he wasn’t very pleased with the new program and expectations.

And if we are honest, Flanno was the making of Zac as a footballer.

As a player, he emerged from being a somewhat troubled soul to becoming blue chip marquee in a single season.

I didn’t see him progress at anywhere near the same rate at the eels.

Flanno would be a master at 'tough love'. Exactly what he needed.

Yes.

Flanno also seems to have a physiological as well as an emotional reaction to losing.

He finds the whole concept extremely difficult to manage internally.

I recall he acknowledged his own work on Lomax, but in a kind of ‘shrug his shoulders’ way in terms of Zacs decision to leave.

He couldn’t have pushed zacs career along any further.

Zac was seriously p’d off under Hook.
At centre he could never resist miracle plays. The change to wing made him a soloist, which suited him.
He’s an athlete who wants to earn as much as possible. Can’t blame him - but I won’t miss him much either.

Flanno should have had Lomax taking the long kicks in general play and the field goals in those close games.
