Good stuff. It’s obvious to anyone something has gone wrong with aitken attitude or other. Plenty of talent - what’s gone wrong? Is it McGregor?

Zac Lomax on a very long term deal. I am ambivalent about Zac and struggle to understand the hype but he is wearing the red v so I’ll cheer him on. He goes ok but isn’t anything out of the box and think $500k for 6 years isnt a great deal for the club. He can kick goals and we need someone to do this next year ( subject to scoring some trys) given the world class Gareth Widdop is gone.

Zac has plenty of talent and can be a versatile player - Wing centre fullback

IF true , massive risk but can understand logic behind it. Paying overs to keep him but if he becomes the player the club hopes , it will be a bargain. BUT then again if he does become something special wont he just break the contract to go elsewhere ?

Ha hope not. I’d stay if I was a player and grew up a fan of the dragons. You’d stay for less at your team, that’s my opinion.

It seems unlikely..you would need to have a certain level of commitment to the club to sign a six year contract at age 20

Average footy player wage is 350k he is better than average. Lafai dollars in the current time, we paid Lafai a lot, he will probably be gone next year hence straight swap? Can play a number of positions so can’t see the risk.

From the Telegraph
Zac Lomax is set to sign the longest deal in St George Illawarra history after agreeing to a monster six-year contract.

The in-demand Lomax, 20, has rejected interest from a host of clubs, including Wests Tigers and Canberra, for a deal worth about $3 million in a massive show of faith for the struggling Dragons.
It is understood the final year of the multi-year deal is an option in Lomax’s favour.
Done deal
It is funny how the media interpret it. Hunt's is exactly the same. 6th year option at $6 million about =
$1 mill a season if he takes his option. actually 950K a season is closer to the mark
But no the media divided the 6 Mill / 5 to get 1.2 mill and run with that

I think we will be getting our money's worth from next season. I think the 500K a year for 5 or 6 years will turn out to be a bargain and that Lomax will be getting an upgrade before then. We do have quite a few very exciting outside backs coming through our system from the likes of the Feagai brothers, Schiller, Ramsey and Slone, while Saab has already played first grade. Millward may be building a very good team for our next coach.

This is one of the best deals we have ever made. This reminded me of Newcastle signing Ponga for 600K or so for 5 years and some questioned if they had done the right thing or not. That was certainly an astute signing by Brownie. I assume his contract will include upgrades if Lomax is playing origin or for Australia. I am rapt about this signing.

First hopeful sign that there will be eventual change for the better in years...certain assistants will have to stay if the bald turd goes to make this signing potentially work the way it should however.
Smart move IMO, especially with that added footy power couple factor.
