Should Saints beat Leeds tomorrow then it will be the 3 strongest sides. Huddersfield have a crippling mental block that prevents them from winning big games. I think it was 2011 that they were run away league leaders and then blew it in the prelim final.

Leeds, Wigan and Warrington confirmed as the 3 from SL.

At a guess, Wire v Roosters and then the other two sort themselves out this weekend.

Our clubs have to stump up £175k ($370k) each to play the NRL clubs..that rules out the likes of huddersfield, cas, hull kr etc....simon moran as no doubt got his money out..hence warrington becoming the third club...

That is unbelievable and something i did not know. Should not have to pay, finishing in the top 3 should be sufficient to qualify. How does this game shoot itself in the foot so often.

But presumably that still implies Huddersfield, Cas and HR have been offered a spot and turned it down?

Where does the money go?

It's basically a guarantee that the NRL clubs don't lose any money on the venture. If a game makes more than £175,000 profit I assume the SL club get their money back.

Not one to doubt you spud, what where is the source for this?

If it were the NRL clubs requesting compensation, I would have thought that the RFL would be paying it.

Side note, wasn't it Sky that ran the WCC previously? Has the RFL taken over that?

RFL confirmed Saints as the third club. Weekend will kick off with saints v roosters. Common sense prevails, Wire playing would have made a mockery of this concept

Ken Davy has said he wants the game and the club will pay the bond but the RFL have gone for Sts who finished 3rd in the regular season as opposed to Huddersfield who finished 3rd after the S8s.

Yeah, Saints confirmed. Not sure where the information about Warrington had come from but that was clearly false.

That is just nasty of the rfl to be honest. So by the logic of this bond and decision the WCS is forever a racket between saints, leeds, wire and wigan. Can they make clubs pay a bond to play in what is essentially a friendly.

Does the premier even pay a bond for the actual WCC?

They've deliberately withheld any rules about who is third in this situation so they could make it up as they go. Now they have and they've set a precedent. But no doubt they'll change the rules to suit in the future when needed. The way the rfl contrive everything makes the vfl look legit.

Cant comment on Aussie Rules, as I couldn't care less about it. But it's completely clear you're right on them withholding the rules intentionally. Not sporting at all.

The rules were not withheld at all, it was supposed to be the GF winner, CC winner and LLS winner. Since Leeds have won two and possibly all three trophies, they have included the other Grand Finalist and the third-placed SL team. Maybe they should've included the beaten CC finalists instead but I don't think anyone is seriously upset about Hull KR not being there.
