It's like watching back to the future. Instead of Marty's family photo erasing we see our run rate dwindle on the scoreboard to the tune of Earth Angel. Wake up Marty! It's not 1985.

If Finch and Warner can regain their levers then we would be a far more dangerous outfit. Let Smith and Khawaja plod a long at under a run a ball. Sure they get the centuries but the levers are important to those big totals.

I suggest more bicep and preacher curls. Maybe Stoinis should have a word with them.

Great win, but we still need to fix the batting order for the Semi’s.

Carey should come in before Maxwell

NCN should play instead of Stoinis

Smith needs to be no.3, he didn’t have enough overs to work with last night.

Khawaja will somehow have to bat at 4 and play innings like he did against India.

Agree re Khawaja opening but no chance that's happening with the form Warner and Finch are in and Smith has to be 3.

No Show consistently screws up with the bat, that's the issue.

Coming in with 14 overs to go, why try and hit almost every ball for 4/6? It's idiotic. He's a dumb, dumb cricketer.
It's a conundrum indeed, I think the problem is we don't have a strong middle order, if Smith bats at 3 and gets out early, the team is screwed because Maxy and Stoinis just aren't delivering enough to trust them to do the job. Our top order is great, Smith at 4 seems to be playing an end of innings role.

Steve Smith’s R/R is better than Warner’s this World Cup

Maybe we should have Carey opening, Warner’s at 7 , he is due to fail

I think with Khawaja opening is his best spot, or coming in to bat early. Its where his concentration is lot more focused, rather than waiting in the sheds and thinking when he will be in next

Maxy screwed up last night, but we need him there, as well as some bowling overs, plus our best fielder
Maxy plays like he thinks he is going to screw up. Maybe he has done it so often he doesn't even believe he can bat enough good innings' often. Maxy needs to give himself more of a chance, maybe play with less risk for the first 20 runs idk. If he bats 10 overs or more and finished the innings off, then we will always make a good score. Stoinis was worse though.

He needs to reign in the aggression a touch, be more selective.

He could be one of the best limited overs cricketers in the world if he wasn't so f**king dumb.

Doesn’t change anything if he comes in at 4/220 or 3/220

Ideally you want him there with 10-12 overs to go

Maxys shot selection was spot on yesterday, execution was not there in the delivery he go out

Last thing we want him to do is let those go to the keeper

Excellent win overnight but the batting order still needs fixing. From 1/180 odd we should have scored 330+. Maxwell is the dumbest Cricketer in the world, it was situation made exactly for him at that stage of the game and he got out playing his usual brain dead brand of Cricket.

Smith needs to move to 3, he needs more time at the wicket and I don't see him as the slogger like he got out trying to do, not neccesarily his fault 100% given he was trying to up the scoring while the idiots threw it away at the other end.

Stoinis isn't earning a place in the side, he comes out during the slogging overs and noodles it around like a top order player. His bowling is mostly trash.

You could probably make an argument for Carey to be batting higher.

Great bowling performance, we actually bowled a good length and brought most forms of dismissal into the game and put the pressure on them with early breakthroughs when the ball was doing a bit.

I saw parts of Morgan's press conference before leaving for work and it's worth checking out. He was not a happy camper!

The squad obviously isnt strong enough in the middle when the only player after Smith you can rely on is Carey. Marsh and Khawaja can't bat in those roles. It is a squad weakness. I don't think there is much choice other than sticking and hoping they finally click in the big games. Move Carey to 5 or 6 and drop Stoinis further down.

Why not play it for a single?

Merkin wants to hit a six every ball. We're much better off with him striking at 130-150 and averaging 40 than striking at 200 averaging 25....and it's not like he won't pick his rate up once set.

It's a simple game ffs. Sure, hit the really bad balls early, but don't try and hit decent balls for six when you first walk out.

At this stage he's a genuine number seven, send him in after the 40th. He's not good enough to bat much longer than that
