    Back in the late 60's early 70's, a style of football boot with laces up the side was introduced. Even slippers and, I think I'm right in saying, pyjamas were available. His long hair, although borrowed from the Beatles, soon became fashionable; even the way he wore his shorts, baggy style...

As to the soccer/football debate, why didn't the game take off when you last made the finals (when Engerland didn't) in 1974? If I recall, there was a national competition in the late 70's...
