Not really.

Our crowds were once great. They turned to sh*t. They turned the corner back and are becoming really solid again (35k average possible for Brissie this year).

Sydney's crowds were once good, now they're sh*t. The big question is, will they be able to turn it around as we have??

with people like tow bar i doubt it

Go back through the history of Rugby league and you will find that crowd averages have never been a strong point. The last 5 years has been a golden age in attendance. You can take from that what you will, but i believe as long as we continue improving by 1 oe 2k every year then it can only be good for the game.

The Brisbane vs Sydney stuff is just utter dreg. It totally overlook about 1000 differeing factors between the two cities and is really just a joke.

great crowd here and certainly a great atmosphere. A few things badly wrong with the scg. Last five minutes and the o'reilly stand chimes in with the usual fracas...

Very good crowd tonight. I was worried at about 7:25 when it looked like it would be very average but it really filled up. I was at the top of the brewrongle stand nea the ladies stand, the end bay and along the top rows was pretty empty but other than that well filled stand. Good match.

I thought it'd be interesting to compare crowds by regions since 2005. These are home and away crowds (no finals) based on stats at stats.rleague.com.

2005

NSW - Total 1,940,407 - Average 16,170
QLD (2 teams) - Total 611,048 - Average 25,460
Other - Total 412,833 - Average 11,468

2006

NSW - Total 1,823,331 - Average 15,194
QLD (2 teams) - Total 610,669 - Average 25,445
Other - Total 374,055 - Average 10,390

2007

NSW - 1,693,127 - Average 14,109
QLD (3 teams) - Total 893,543 - Average 24,820
Other - Total 437,370 - Average 12,149

2008 (after 59 games)

NSW - Total 596,937 - Average 16,581

How do you perceive those stats pcpp? Poor effort on Sydney's behalf or about even?

Are you accounting for the fact there is a new Queensland team since then?

pisspoor crowd at ANZ tonight, wasn't helped at all by the Panthers turnout but it was very poor considering our average...its only gonna get worse if we dish up more trash like that trash we dished up tonight...everyone there deserves a refund of the admission price.

I'd like to see Paul Kind (NRL Puffery Manager) issue a response to these crowd figures tonight.

The two sydney games are a deadset debacle. Two sat night games, four sydney teams involved...20k in total, ffs. NQ are playing sh*te, and playing against the Cronulla 'snoozefest' Sharks, yet still manage to almost singlehandedly out draw both games combined.

Perhaps they need to have some more meetings...some 'brainstorming sessions'. pfft

Perhaps the NRL need to get tough with a few teams, and provide some juicy incentives to relocate to the Central Coast, or unless their fat-arsed fans emerge from their living rooms and start supporting their teams they get punted.

FFS - Sydney Roosters have basically a rep side - and are one of the favourites this year - coached by their favourite son. Yet, the crowd was dismal - they're laughing if they thought 10k was at the game. It looked like a thousand only!

I going to go out on a limb here - this is a crisis. People who are getting paid money to grow this game need to (a) give it back or (b) start working harder.
