The biggest thing for me is just the absurdity of it all. If the PPIS cap is to stop clubs stacking talent with big pay cheques - they should put a cap on spend, not cap the quality of players that they can field.
The $s cap would be basically unmanageable and easy to rort. With the points they can administer that themselves (not saying its done well, just pointing out that a $ cap in NSWRL would not work)
Hearing Hills will have a 150+ game first grader in their side for this season
I thought you meant 150 player points for a minute :)

Should be a good opener at Aubrey Keech. Mounties have added Watson Heleta, Livai Saukura, Ben Seufale, Joe Tramontana, Aden Perry, Kayne Kalache and Haimona Hroti from BWSE for the game. SS should also be competitive with Roman Ioelu and Sam Kimi Ioane in the centres.

Can anyone identify the 7 players whose names do not appear in the Ryde Eastwood team list? I thought this garbage was going to disappear this year.

Great performance from Glebe today who, in truth, probably should have won by more than the 25 point margin over Hills (35-10). Apisalome Saukuru (ex-Wests Tigers Flegg), Jade Anderson and Craig Garvey were the standouts for the Dirty Reds with former Kaiviti Silktails centre Ratu Temesia Jilivecevece scoring a double. Kane Evans wax also solid in his club debut.

Glebe must of done well in both grades to knock off a stacked hills team. Was SS any good or below par ?

I did not see these games but I note that 6 players in the Hills SS team were part of the Hills A Grade team that lost 60-0 to Wenty in August last year. There are very few from last years' premier team.

I think there were maybe 4 regulars from last season, some of the senior players may have hung up the boots and a number have joined other clubs. Could be a rebuilding year for the Bulls- but you never know.

Yes, those gone include:

Brad Avery (Melbourne JF), Tui Afualo (Berkeley Vale), Joseph Jaber, Josh Risk (Ryde Eastwood), Kruz Niutili- Schmidt (Wenty RMC), Te Oranja-jade (Mounties), Nick Bilsborough (Manly SS), Dave Baumann (retired?), Ben O'Reilly (injured?), Tom Watson (RMC bench), Ceiza James ??

Mounties certainly have a long list of players this year. Of the 9 changes listed for RMC this week, only 2 played SS last week while the other 7 were not selected anywhere.

Of those, 4 are part of the Blacktown Eagles squad. Noel Aukafolau, John Ngaronoa, Bruce Ward and John Tuivati.

So that will be 13 from BWSE in the first 2 rounds. Mounties will have plenty available all year because the Manly appointed coach likes to see about 15 Manly players in the BWSE team each week.

Great to see NSWRL putting out a weekly show for RMC

Round 2 teamlists

Great initiative having all of the coaches interviewed. This is the best thing to happen to the comp since NITV had a weekly segment on its Footy Show with Brad Cooke about 10 years ago.

RMC
Mounties 30 Brothers 22
Glebe 30 Ryde Eastwood 22
St Marys 48 Bulldogs 24
Wenty 19 Hills 6

Brothers showed great spirit to come back from a 44-0 loss to Wenty, to be right in this contest until near the end, actually leading 22-12 midway through the second half. Mounties are still a WIP and had a very different team to the first round , losing over 320 games of NSW Cup experience in the absence of Brad Abbey, Watson Heleta, Kayne Kalache and Haimona Hiroti. I expect that unlike Round 1, the BWSE players actually turned up at Mounties training this week. Brothers winger, Mitch Owen suffered a bad facial injury.

Glebe and Wenty continued the winning ways leading from go to whoa. At Glebe both sides included players with more than 100 1st NRL games with Kane Evans in the Glebe side and Hymel Hunt playing for Ryde Eastwood. This week RE managed to increase the number of players inserted in the official program from 10 to 15 and, of couse, one of the unnamed managed to score a try.

Last year, Wenty had a number of players back up regularly from interchange duties in NSW Cup. This strategy could not be implemented today as the Eels also played today, meaning Wenty lost Meni Luke, Jake Tago, Reece Alderton and Kyle Cassel. Wenty had no problem in securing wins in both grades. The Hills marquee, Jordan Rankin, was responsible for Hill's only consolation, with his successful grubber and regather.

The Bulldogs still had Jirah Momoisea today (11 NRL, 67 NSW Cup games), who was a late signing from Parramatta, but lost Rajab, Hopoi and Vale from round 1, yet actually led 18-16 at the break, before St Marys turned on the thrusters in the second half.

SS
Brothers 26 Manly 10
Mounties 62 Cabramatta 4
Ryde Eastwood 34 Glebe 13
Wenty 54 Hills 18
St Marys 60 Moorebank 10

Manly will now realise that their historic first win in SS was due to the dream draw of Cabramatta in round 1. Manly would have noted that Mounties were able to run in 11 tries against the 2 Blues. The bookends, Sonny Bristow and Anson Naati, made large gains through the middle while rake, David Tui, combined his darts from dummy half with hit ups like a third prop. Livai Saukuru was destructive out wide on the left side, showing why he was regular for the Magpies in NSW Cup last year. Cabra are unrecognisable from the fearsome club of times past. What might St Marys do to them?

By looking at the results in SS they all look to be blow outs. I was out at the hills game yesterday and there defence was woeful. They will need to get some recruits in asap
