Well worth watching Gruen on ABC iView this week if you missed it. Whole show was on advertising trends in both of this years grand finals. Very interesting in parts. Painted the NRL in a very good light for the most part and clearly stated it won the TV rating and quoted the right numbers.

They quoted the oztam overnights, not the revised Nine figures.

They got called on it today during a 'better and worse' segment on 702. A caller said the amount of vfl being shoved at us was worse. The host tried to hose it down, to no effect. Pointed out that a supposed national game without a team in the national capital was a bit of a joke.

caught an ad for that Victorian breakfast show and their hook was an interview with an retiring afl player and as the ad was ending that trioli woman yells out "go the Blues".

I really fail to see the point in a national show on the public broadcaster that is state focused, why are we paying so Victorians can talk about themselves?

Is not having a team in Canberra really that big a deal?

Riverland football coach Aarod Westley faces court on drug trafficking charges

A football coach charged with 109 counts of drug trafficking remains in custody after appearing in a South Australian court.
Aarod Westley, 30, was a passenger in a car that was pulled over by police on the Old Sturt Highway on Friday morning.
A search of the car revealed 10 grams of what police alleged was methamphetamine.
Westley and the driver, a 26-year-old man from Renmark, were arrested and a further three people were arrested later that day.
The court heard the drugs allegedly found in Westley's possession were hidden in his underwear.
Westley was head coach of the Lyrup Football Club in his final season this year and took the A-grade team to a premiership.
He is also aformer coach of the Paringa Football Club, where his father is a life member.
Westley appeared in Berri Magistrates Court where his lawyer initially submitted an application for home detention bail.
He later withdrew the application because the address was the same address as a co-accused and therefore unsuitable.
Westley has been remanded in custody and the case will resume on December 22.
The four other accused, charged with several counts of drug trafficking, are scheduled to appear in court in late November and early December.

I'd say it is for a code that claims a national status. Yes.

If it didn't have status as the capital city of Australia, Canberra would not have any relevance at all. Even in the context of a AFL/NRL pissing contest, Canberra would be a symbol of tokenism. It's not really that big a deal.
