Can Mary replicate what Hardwick did at the Tigers

In 2016 Damien Hardwick was under pressure to get the axe. The tigers recruited some good solid players and added coaching support to help the head coach. The result a premiership in 2017.
Can the dragons emulate this in 2018 and win the NRL premiership. We have added Hunt and Graham brought over an unknown assistant coach from the UK, Richard Haigh is this the added support Mary needs to bring the premiership back to the mighty Dragons?

I'd say very unlikely but not impossible. IMO the key to achieving a near impossible goal would lay with the progression of young forwards like Host, Lawrie, Sele, Leilua, Kerr to bolster our already strong forward pack. Would also need Mcinness to progress with a improved running game and some kicking roles.

This will give us our platform.

Our backs would have to go to a whole new level. Lafai would need to carry his early season form over 26 rounds. Aitken needs to have a big year. He has shown speed and strength in attack, needs to get better with his defence and ball play. I'm a nighty fan -,will get the job done. Mann on the other wing. Nene needs to be dropped but not forgotten, needs to earn his spot back with more effort.

The big three will need to deliver. The potential is there. Widdop and Hunt are both quality play makers. Their game management and kicking game will be crucial in deciding our fate. Dufty will need to live up to his potential and be a great attacking weapon. Will also need Field as our weapon utility to come on and make in roads against tired forwards.

If this happens and If the football gods are on our side we may just do the impossible

Zero possibility.
Mary is a goose.
Hardwick isn't.

If Graham and Hunt are the reason people think we might compete for the title next year then why aren't they and their previous teams playing today?
2 players alone will make no difference, we need much more than that to get close to a title.
Already people overrating the 2018 squad as they did this year, last year and so on and also overrating the ability of Mc Fookknuckle.
If things remain similar to last year with just Hunt and Graham coming in we will be lucky to get 9th.

Eh, it's possible but we'd need a few teams to fall over in front of us

Its possible but highly unlikely. I just don't think we have the outside backs to go deep into the finals.
I'm confident that we will make the 8 next year though.

We signed a gun half and an experienced prop

We lost a full back and a very good prop that had become injury prone

Side needs better outside backs and our young fringe FG forwards to develop in to hard nose stars

We may scrape in to the 8 in 2018 but we will not challenge the top 4

No certainty the pommy coach is coming.

Very little chance Mary will allow him any input even if the pommy coach were appointed

Does Mary have the ability to develop the juniors in to first class players ??????????

LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next question

Agree mostly Belta, unlikely but not impossible.
We have a very good forward pack however they need to be managed better to play the season out.
Our spine has quality halves but McInnes needs a new dimension to his game and Dufty needs a better game plan developed around him.
Only thing I disagree with is our Wingers.
Nene has to improve or go. Nighty should not be even considered with the youngsters at our disposal.
All of these improvements require a coaching team with balls and vision.

No. We will miss the 8.

Next question.

The sad part is, we're the type of team good enough to hover around the 8 without ever threatening to win the comp.

This is actually the worst type of scenario as it won't enforce change and us fans will just be frustrated every year.
