Call me pragmatic but I believe BA’s boss wants to keep his job, which means hiring the best coach available.

Which isn’t necessarily the best coach or even the best coach off contract.
Jokes aside, I'm starting to sense that BAs bosses don't like him much. I reckon he has influenced his senior players in putting the BA clause in their contracts effectively holding his bosses at ransom, purely so he can keep his job.

It makes sense now how the recruitment team apparently don't include Arthur in their decisions anymore.

But I think that Moses is more important know to the team then what Gutho.
I've thought it for at least two years:
No he's awesome. Easily our most important player, at least on the field. He would be very hard to replace, which is why we might pay overs to keep him. He will get offers of $1.2M+ from the likes of the Dragons. Maybe even the Tigers. How much less would he take to stay at Parra? The answer is we'll never know, but if the club looks like it's prioritising cap space over keeping every single off contract first grader, Moses could be a big part of why.
But as far back as 2017 some merkin reliably informed Noise that adding Moses would make us a top four team. At the time we were coming 13th:
That's what I thought until I was reliably informed that adding Moses alone makes us a top 4 team
We signed Moses and went on to finish fourth. He is that important.

And went out backwards and were beaten by a Cows side without Thurston.
We didnt have Gutho that night which was a big loss.

But we should have won that game in Melbourne the week previously which was another tale of cruel luck for us and would have sent the whole finals series into a different spin.

Melbourne would have been put on the hard side of the draw and we would have got the Broncos in a prelim in Sydney who 3 weeks earlier we had put 50 on them at Suncorp where Semi tore them a new one.

All true, but it was yet another choke on a big game when it really mattered. A sign of things to come it was.

Don’t underestimate that Cowboys side. We weren’t the only team they beat in the finals series. And they were premiers two years earlier.

So Souths sacked Demetriou with a win percentage of 51.67... BA's current win percentage is a marginally higher 52.29%.

If we go 0-4 in our next four games, then BA drops below "the Demetriou threshold" 😲.

To be fair , he wasnt sacked on his win percentage, but rather what has happened over the last 12 months or so, ie 5 wins from the last 20 odd games, Burgess walkout etc...

Its equivalent when Parra sacked BA at the back end of our spoon year in 2018......hang on

Brad must be one of the rare coaches to have such a shit finals record but still have a positive F/A

Brad's finals record
4 wins 8 Losses
For - 256
Against - 255
F/A +1

2017 in Melbourne & 2021 against Penrith we dreadfully unlucky with calls his finals record probably should sit around 40% if you change those to wins and we lost the following week.

Bea has more contract extensions than finals wins, and 3 of those wins were against 8th spot lol. Compelling figures to give him more time it’s only been 11 years.

Five of those losses were against the eventual premiers. The other three losses were to the Cowboys (eventual grand finalists in 2017) and Melbourne/Souths in 2020 when we lost Sivo and Ferguson during the Storm game, and Jennings on the morning of the Bunnies game. We've certainly had a lucky draw.
