I keep hearing about how from now on anybody who drops the ball should just kick it after it bounces, but it doesn’t work that way. Slater was allowed to play on because he dropped it with the intention of kicking it which in turn makes it a drop kick, he didn’t drop it then decide to kick because he dropped it.

Michael Ennis “kicked” a similar one when playing for the Knights in around 2007.

Common sense was occurred on that particular Friday night and the video ref ruled that it was a no try, the same thing should have happened last night.

This sets a ridiculous precedent and sides will now be trying similar tactics.

The fact the refs have usually got the rule wrong in the past is why it hasn’t been used, that and the fact neither the players, coaches or commentators know the rules very well lol. Now they’ve got it right we will probably will see it again, doesn’t really give any advantage though to do it so probably not likely.
