So it was tackle 4 - that is the count.

Not "tackle 4th was sometime in the past" - so was the 2nd,and 3rd. This is the 5th.

Here’s a couple of tips...

When the ref holds his hand straight up you get one more tackle.

If he waves his arm around like an old lady waving at a disembarking ship , It means you can keep getting tackled until the ref holds his hand straight up again.

At the GP this week, when a car has completed the first lap the lap count is 1 and the car is on the 2nd lap. It would be stupid to display 1st for the whole 2nd lap.

Now they might display it as 1/72 or 1 of 72. But showing 1st for the whole subsequent lap would be wrong.
