Later I will post up all the role PMs and make a few comments of each player as well as my opinion on the factions and the best players.
For now, I'll just make some observations about the game in general:
- Balance: All in all, the game balance worked out better than I had hoped. It was possible for the game to end quite early under unlikely circumstances. As the Robot Devil, Rebel needed the 7 robots killed, and particularly for 2 of them to be lynched. The latter condition had to be added so he didn't win by default in the case of them all being killed at night.
Similarly, as Dr. Wernstrom Parra Pride had to lynch the Professor to win. He needed to kill 6 people including the Professor. The Professor was protected by: Amy, Fry, Hermes, Leela & Scruffy. Basically, the Professor was the "trap" of Futurama Mafia: it was difficult for him to be killed, if he was targeted at night, thorson1987 as Scruffy would learn the attacker's identity but he had no actual actions or abilities.
In hindsight, it may have been too much to give the Professor that much protection. Originally I was going to remove some of the protection once Parra Pride died however it would have made no difference as Scruffy or Leela would have been kept as a protector, maybe both.
Omicron Persei 8 probably got the harshest deal out of the major groups/factions inside the game. It was hardest for them to win. This was partly because they weren't included in the original 23 roles I had planned. After 30 people had signed up, I ditched Mom and added those three. I tried to make up for their weaker protection by allowing their factional kill to rotate to the highest ranked member of their faction.
- Major turning Point: The failed kill on the Professor Dragon2010. thorson1987 was still alive as Scruffy so he learned the killers identity. Had they targeted anyone else, especially thorson1987 or DB (roleblocker), I think the Robot Mafia would have been victorious. Honestly, I think they deserved it more than town did. That's how the cookie crumbles in mafia though.
- Running a mafia: I had a lot of fun but also frustration doing it. It was my first time running one, so I made some silly errors. Thankfully, I don't think it had major impact on the result. I'm not sure if I'd run another one, but I'd be happy to co-host one with someone else. The biggest issue was that because I had made the game so complicated, I forgot about some minor things I should have done and the role PMs were not nearly as clear as they should have been.
