Question for Sydneysiders - when Wests play at LO, where are the 12-17k fans coming from each time?

Are they drawn from the surrounding suburbs or are people making long journeys for the LO experience?

It’s a mix

you have your new fans who grew up wests tigers only and the old school Balmain fans who aren’t necessarily living close to lo

plus some old wests fans too

back to Balmain days you would say their support was more the inner west from say burwood Strathfield back to leichardt and Victoria bridge

Seriously mate some times you just have to accept you’re off the mark. The Tigers need to settle on a base. If you think it’s LO and are serious then that’s your problem as nobody agrees with you. When nobody agrees with you that usually means one thing. Guess what it is?
As for comparing LO with Shark Park I can only assume you’re joking. Neither are much chop but LO is a dump with massive ohs issues. Balmain are dead.
The tigers need to move to where their supporter base will be. That ain’t Balmain. As for the Sharks. We will need to consider our options in time. We basically own the St George junior league comp, and we are growing our wealth base. But keep defending LO. It’s a lonely pointless venture but you know, go you.
You want them to move away from their current supporter base and leagues clubs full time ?

remember when people said the sharks should do that with Perth ?

take a step back and stop being so parochial

what you are suggesting means the same should apply to Cronulla

This is the kind of hypocrisy Perth red is famous for

How many non sharks fans on here think shark park isn’t fit for the nrl

shark park looks like an unfinished building site

it’s awful on tv

Residential delevlopment with harbour views when there’s a housing crisis ?

wonder what they want for a 2 bed it’s probably well over 2 million
seems the developer wants to see if they can milk out a few more apartments on the site

For west tigers I think the future is
- upgraded rectangular Homebush as main home ground. Built in time for new metro and light rail links making it easier for fans from all over Sydney to get there
- Leichhardt rebuilt by council into 10k max ground with decent grandstand for local sport. Maybe a tigers pre season game and 1 NRL game per year
- Campbelltown gets 3-4 games per year

Construction costs have gone up around 30 percent and unit prices haven’t matched it yet

most sites in Sydney now aren’t feasible

they are waiting for rising rents to lead to higher prices

you could also be right there’s new zoning that got approved that would give them a bonus of around 30 percent extra units

The Western Suburbs magpies moved out to the Campbelltown area in the late 80s because they knew the writing was on the wall stuck in inner western Sydney.

That's 37 years ago. Its a growth area and Wests Tigers' future if they are smart enough to see it. Of course the Balmain faction has to see it or they will continue to be a non entity in the competition as the likes of Penrith, Souths and Roosters continue to forge ahead as modern, well run clubs.

The nostalgic value of LO is a myth perpetuated by Balmain fans and ex players who would prefer to hang on to memories than move forward. Balmain last played in the 89 grand final nearly 35 years, you cannot run a successful club on nostalgia alone.

Why would you use Accor rather than allianz? Allianz is by far the better stadium And there are no signs nsw govt has any plans to spend anything on Accor for the foreseeable future.
