a clause in their contract, which relates to each player earning a percentage of any increase in the NRL's $5 million salary cap

Serves them right for putting in such a stupid clause. Only have themselves to blame, not the players.

They should make all salaries public like they do with US sports

You mean players' salaries? Not sure it'd work for the NRL.

In most US sports, players can't be headhunted by other competitions & other sports - the US competition is the pinnacle of that sport as far as earning power goes.

However with the NRL, if you publish all the players salaries you're just giving away commercially sensitive information to every rugby & Superleague team that are in the player market. (oh and AFL.)

Good to see another LookatmeMan thread with 'crisis' in the title. It's been a while.

Your owner getting sick of his plaything, now that's a crisis.

WTF are you on about now ffs?

Its one thing to death ride every Sydney club as soon as you hear that the groundsman's lawn mower broke down - but you just took NFI to a whole new level.

:lol: the Telecrap. Gus must of f**ked Rothfield's wife or something. You don't need to follow gus to read his tweets. He has praised Grant & Jennings early training and off field work so far. McKendry & Coote earned praise for the ride along with the police the other week.

On to the story. End of last year Petero goes add Waterhouse combined both were on $650k+. Replaced with Newton, Ciraldo & co on mimimum wage.

Lewis goes after we sign the bigger names. The depth players after he went would of taking up the other nuffies we punted.

We have no idea what the cap will be. So how do we know they need a paycut? We have about 10 or so off contract end of this year I could happily let them all go.

We don't pay any of Burn's contract for 2014. Kingston, Smith on $250k each. Replace them with minimum wage players it's sorted. That said McKendry can go if any should go.

Because the alleged problem is it's a %. So it works the same whether the cap is 5m or 6m or 128m.

It's may be a problem if you were hell bent on signing JT in 2014. If that is or isn't a crisis is open to interpretation. What it is not, is a problem that would cause you to exceed the salary cap.

It may have happened, trying to guilt trip some players out of a bit of coin to help him free up cap space for a half doesn't seem out of the realms of possibility.
