Gus denying the run in with Griffen earlier in the year had nothing to do with protecting Griffen or the club, it was about protecting himself. What GM attacks a coach in front of people because of a performance at a trial game? Probably led to the lack of respect the coach apparently had from the players! What GM refuses to speak to a coach for periods of 6 weeks at a time? Breakdown in that communication probably leads to a lack of respect to the coach from players and staff.

Gould was protecting himself by lying, not Griffen, not the club, he was undermining Griffen constantly and made it impossible for him to do his job.

And in doing so he threw the chairman - Dave O'Neill - under a bus. Gould reckons he was ready to help Griffin through the next two years until he discovered that talks between Cleary & Oneill were well advanced, advanced enough for Cleary to approach his board about his future.

He will probably blame the wind for yesterday's poor performance and the usual we have the youngest roster BS in the NRL for their inadequacies.

The 5 year plan is finished and it was a huge success. The club is in a good financial position and we are making the 8 every year.


But everything since then has been f**king awful and it's time for Gus to move on

Summarising for you people in low socioeconomic areas spend more money on pokies than people in higher socioeconomic areas. Your post was flippant and made light of the negative impact pokies have in society, but it's ok they allow my footy team to buy an extra player or steal another teams coach.

Even so, leagues clubs were set up by football clubs to fund the football club. Its a legitimate and legal source of funding.
