Rabbitohs Round 8 - Vs Storm

Good players leave clubs all the time.
although south’s current half back is shit he is not the reason they are conceding 40 points a game, and Reynolds playing wouldn’t make it any better.
Which doesn’t support your assertion that Shane was never approached.

At any rate, if you care to sum up why you think South’s are struggling, I’m sure readers would find it interesting.

Prove he was approached. southsydneyrabbioths bloke on here probably told you. He is good mates with everyone.
Players don’t lose the ability to play football. When under fatigue tasks become harder to execute. South’s are not fit enough. Plain and simple. Far too late to try and get it back. All the teams that went to Vegas struggled with consistency in the first 5-6 weeks. They all missed essentially 2 weeks of preseason with flights, leg lag, outside commitments etc.
South’s got it more wrong than the rest of them.

Kennar is out injured also. There is absolutely no other option.

Johnston injured
Munro injured
Mellars always injured
Kennar injured
Te Hau not cleared due to heart condition
Milne dumb and suspended

Souths would have to get permission to play someone outside the 30, and sadly and scarily your options would be

Burns
Leonard Skelton
Or we go to the Flegg team and throw in
Aaron Macey
Carson Kaho

the cupboard is bare.

definitely need to wait until after Mitchell returns before you punt hawkins for wighton in the halves
We will have to request an exemption for Burns to play. He at least has 1st grade experience and is our only option. Thompson can also be considered at centre since he has played solidly there in Cup. Would likely be an improvement although not much. It's still a Reggies backline with the exception of Wigton and Walker at the minute who must be paired in the halves by now. Panthers will dine out in 2nd gear just as the Storm did nonetheless. I'd bring both those boys mentioned in and send this backline out to do their best.

Gray
Gagai
Burns
Tass
Thompson
Wighton
Walker

As for the forwards, Tallis has to be reinstated ahead of Chee Kam and hopefully Shaq will be right to start. Keaon back to right edge. Arrow to left edge, Host to bench or left right out. Penrith are non-stop fast paced and we need as much mobility in the middle and on the edges as possible because they always run their opposition ragged.

Burgess
Cook
Shaq
Arrow
Keaon
Murray

Tallis
Havili
Host
Moale

Not wanting to make excuses, but just adding to that, Souths were the only team of the 4 Vegas sides that had to jump back on a plane in round 2 as we had to fly to Brisvegas after Las Vegas.

Bottom line besides all that is that JD apparently hasn't flogged the boys over summer the way a Bellamy or other tough task masters have done and the difference is laid bare for all to see. Vegas affecting our prep only added to it but you are quite right that we are just not fit enough mentally or physically to compete with the top teams in 2024 and what worked in previous years isn't anymore.

Nrl may not give us the exemption though while we have wighton that is a back. We would have to prove we have no one left in that spot. Wighton playing in the 3/4 line all season so far the nrl could knock us back. Especially with us having Hawkins and Tuepa available to play in the halves

In doing so, he ends speculation that he might jump ship to South Sydney, where he had been linked with a return.

speculation. Media speculation at that.
give me strength. Try again champ.

Did you speak to Richo about it?

I think you’ve got this one quite wrong.
Not that it matters.

If the squad is unfit, it’s the coaches fault isn’t it?

You just did make an excuse...haha! If you think a simple matter of jumping on a plane in round two is responsible for the shit you guys are in, your head is well and truly in the sand.

Your last sentence is the most truthful. No side looks less fit than the Rabbits this year....and by a fair margin too. Those other three Vegas sides have had their ups and downs but they at least look ready for the rigours of NRL football. I can't say the same about Souths.

The top eight is over and by the looks of things, finishing in the bottom four is quite likely.

I did not. It's not an excuse but is still an additional factor IF we're being fair.

I said IF.

Stop the LV nonsense!
Demetriou is a dope, a dud Coach. 5-15 in his past 20 starts and it will only get worse the longer he remains. The squad has consistently surrendered 30+ points in 75% of these games and Penrith will likely top 50 next game.
He has consistently made bad decisions, has failed to develop any young talent [he has had SIX seasons here!] and has zero leadership. Mansour's comments only fuelled what the players already knew.
Every player has deteriorated under Demetriou.
The training too appears to be wrong. He removed Farah and Burgess and got ex-AFL trainers involved. Every game the players seem knackered after 20 mins and the flood gates inevitably open for opponents.
Murray too is no leader. He is a schoolboy sans any edge in his character and has absolutely zero charisma.

Demetriou has made the squad a second division outfit in terms of leadership, game fitness and player development. Whilst he remains this is a repeat of the 1990 season. Horrible team recidive.

I don’t mind if Cam doesn’t have charisma, He’s a bit like Api.

But everyone put in like him, we wouldn’t be here arguing, that’s for sure.

The option would be to apply for the others you mentioned Skelton, Kayo and Macey or whoever.

The cold harsh reality is that Burns is diabolical, right up there with Hawkins. Neither can be in the first grade squad.

I do not want to see us get pasted every week, memberships will wane and ditto TV ratings and prospective backers and sponsors.

Broncos strength and conditioning coach from 2018-2020 was Andrew Croll.
they went 6th,8th and last.
2021 he was made head of high performance. He was sacked in June of that year. Broncos ended up finishing 14th. The guy who took over from him. (Dave Ballard) was told to give them a mini pre season half way through the season because the fitness was not there.
December 2022 South’s signed a new high performance manager. Andrew Croll.
coincidence. Maybe.
Souths are clearly not fit enough though and this man has history.
