Rise and shine all you fellow South Sydney members and fans out there, as another game day is upon us. It's a big one tonight too as we face the Titans up there on the Gold Coast. I'd say this is probably our first absolute 'must win' game of the Season as we really, really need to win these next two and get our Season back on track before the bye. A couple of losses can be called a flat spot, but if that extends to three, then it starts turning into a mid-Season slump and we absolutely cannot let that happen tonight. So, we're in for a big one today no doubt.
It's quite hard to know what to make of the Titans. They've had some brilliant games where they've looked incredible, and then some where they've looked really poor. I think, at this stage anyway, they're a bit of an inconsistent team. However, on their day, they are genuinely capable of beating anyone. So let's hope it's not their day today. They'll see this one as a real opportunity to get us, as I'm sure anyone playing Souths during the Origin period would, so I have no doubt they'll be up for this. It's a big game for us, but it's a big game for them too, especially coming off the bye. I'm expecting a tough Titans side tonight and we'll need to be on. They're a really good, potent attacking side when they turn it on that plays an expansive, exciting brand of Footy. I think they key to beating them tonight is the middle battle. That's where everything starts and if we can contain their roll on, we should be okay and it will make shutting down that potent attack a little easier. You've also got to make sure you do a job on their main attacking weapons. Campbell is the biggest one for me but there's also guys like Sami, Khan-Pereira and Fifita who you can never sleep on.
For our boys, tonight is all about getting back on track, getting back to doing what we know we can do. That all starts with the defence. Defence, defence, defence tonight. That should be the biggest focus because it's the area we've really dropped our bundle in the past two weeks. It simply cannot happen for a third week in a row. Get back to our usual standards, especially through the middle and I'm confident we have the attack to break them down. With Stretch back and Cam and Jai playing, there's no reason why we shouldn't be a lot better in that area tonight. I say this every game but it just sums up our Season so well and sums up our side in 2023, if we get our game right, nail our process and execute, we'll be very hard to stop. Got to get our game right and lift the standards, no if's or buts tonight. Hopefully our boys will be extremely fired up to right the wrongs of the past couple weeks. No reason to not be. I think the lads really relish playing up there on the Gold Coast, we always get a great crowd there, always plenty of support and generally, the boys play well up there. We haven't lost at Cbus since 2009 which is crazy. But that means nothing tonight, it's a new year, new game.
Pumped for this one today! Just want to get back on track and have another win so, so bad. It isn't gonna be easy, but we can do it!! Enjoy your game day everyone! Get out and about wherever you are and wear the colours proudly.
