The Mole (for what it's worth) saying that we had a crack at Corey Harawira Naera but he is likely to stay at Penrith. At least we seem to be trying.

Seems he was in demand. Think at the start of the season he wasn't really in Penriths plans, so we went in extremely hot for him with a big offer

That got withdrawn a few weeks back because Penrith have decided they want to keep him and apparently Gould and Fulton have formed a no poaching agreement between the clubs

I wonder what ACCC would say about that. It sounds very dubious to being a restraint of trade as it could artificially deflate player contracts if one less player in the market is allowed to bid.

Kasiano to Storm confirmed

Had good offers from Dragons, Eels and Warriors but took less money to go to Melbourne
Correct, he was the bulldogs prop that was talked about coming here a while a go but the media got swept up in the Graham to Warriors story instead. Apparently we were very close (like us V storm close).

The Corey story is BS though.

BUT the club is really active right now. They are trying & the comments around a big name forward signing is still very much in play.

Pretty sure we've had a crack at every Kiwi living in Brisbane :D

First Santo, then Cherrington, now this.

Clearly the plan is to take out the best players we can from the opposition NSW Cup sides to ensure ourselves some finals football somewhere.

If it is a plan, then it's actually not a awful one. Replace a part of our second tier players with guys who have come up through more professional junior Australian systems. Hopefully it all filters through to some of our guys over the next couple of years.

Our best teams have always had bargain basement guys who were either looking for opportunity or needed a change. We've gotten good value out of guys like Death, Tookey, Villisanti, Webb, Luck, Gatis, Henderson, Maloney, Brown, Carlaw, Byrne, Seymour, Witt, Rovelli etc

IMO there's nothing wrong with having a few of these types of buys filling out the larger playing squad.
