Contracted to Dragons for 2 years.
Even Dell will say his son is not ready for first grade. Only just started 20s.
Ready in 2 years maybe but will Bennet still be coaching in 3 years at 70?

The point is that, like Bird, we will develop him and get him ready for the top grade then probably lose him to a poacher.
McGregor is not an attractive proposition for a young player looking to develop under a top coach.

I'm over the Bird saga tbh. I can't see any of our young guns being in that calibre. Maybe Lomax but the rest are borderline ordinary. Shoot me now.

You need to go to opsm why the hell would these same juniors get selected as junior kangaroos junior state of origin and kiwi junior test sides if they were so bad.the mind boggles at the negativity around here
The pathways program needs an over hall. I believe the introduction of the following measures would make a difference:

Form a pathways committee chaired by Mark Coyne with Millward and Mary as members and various player mentors as advisors.

Then plot a pathways course for those players identified as potential first graders by this committee. This committee to meet each month mainly to update the progress and time-line targets.

In this way both Mary and Millward have ownership of pathway decisions and Coyne, as chairman is the facilitator. Ex-Australian greats such as Cooper, Johns etc. could be hired as mentors.

Agree to the extend that we have an excellent crop of Juniors with ability coming through. The question that needs to be asked is do we have the coaching staff to nurture and develop these Juniors .

Question 1...Are you happy with what you have seen in terms of Coaching and retention of the coaching staff since Bennett Left?

Question 2 ..If so do you believe that the current coaching staff can win us a premiership ?

Most people would answer a Definitive NO to both these questions based on what we have seen since 2012. That should help to shed some light on the so called "Negativity " around here.

The board are solely responsible for creating this scenario. They will never be held accountable...If we fail to make the Semi's this year the Board will probably hire an "Independent committee " review with the end result being little change or one of the coaches of the lower grades being removed in order to be seen to address any deficiencies.

If we make the 8 , the Board will no doubt herald 2017 as a rousing success and tell all and sundry that Mr McGregor is a coaching genius. ( Sorry for the sarcasm ).

Therein lies the problem. Will these Juniors want to stay under our system when clubs challenging for the title come knocking with Great offers ? All well and good having promising talent but the above can almost totally negate any of the positives.

Diamonds in the rough mate. Just need the club to wake up to the fact our development pathway isn't working.
I genuinely believe you've hit the nail on the head Lifes Good. Also, good summation Get Smarty. I didn't say the boys were bad, just not shining. Worst mistake was letting Demetriou leave imo. I can say with confidence that Mary felt threatened by him. JD would be preparing these young fellas a lot better than Head currently is.

Discussions relating to sacking Mary have been numerous and no matter how strong a case put, management just don't even put up a good reason why he is retained. He is a useless coach and the Dragons will never proper while he is in control.

It's time tor the Club to get serious about standards and accountability else it might find itself in a similar situation as Souths did only we don't have a millionaire life line to 'save our saints'.
