What happens to Demitriou...?

How did a weak organisation (Illawarra) end up controlling a strong one (Saints) f**k me.
Saints had already lost the plot during the crap 1980s and mid to late 1990s.
Saints were sliding and were easy pickings.

Unbelievable I know!

But all empires eventually crumble.

But there is only one frank facer, he made saints what they were.

Never before
Never again.

I look at it this way
Unless one of us shoots-the-works and goes on a Vegas bender, walks up with some night ladies (one of which is your new wife) because you're won a billion buck. Then comes back here and uses the flash cash hanging out of your new man pants pockets to buy the Dragons outright.

Not wishing bad things on anybody - But, something BAD happens to the collective of our management, nothing is going to change for years to come.
They are dug in like a Alabama tick.
Doust as all these guys dancing to TISM lyrics. So unless the start to abide by his dictatorship we're - You, Me, and every other St. George Illawarra Supporter are f*%ked four way.
Guys like JD are cream - they will rise to the top, just not with us.
We will just keep going over the same ground. experiencing evry position on the table except last, hence justifying thses guys to keep their dictorial job.

It’s wishful thinking that something will happen prior to the season starting.
If we’re off the pace & Supercoach gets punted then Doust will be blessed with having 2 proven performers available(Maguire & Hasler)& a highly credentialed fan favourite(JD)in the wings who would likely come cheap. This could, of course, be the side act of chasing Bellamy which makes the 2 year extension of SuperCoach even more perplexing.

Steve Price's axing showed that Doust will punt a coach under certain circumstances. Having Hunt and Graham come over on big coin - certainly bigger than Mary's on - and then fail would be a massive problem. The financially responsible solution would therefor be to punt Mary.

What I'm saying is Mary's on a hiding to nothing right now. If we do well, it's the cattle we've accumulated, and he'll get no credit. If we do badly, it's his poor coaching ruining our quality recruits and he'll get punted.

Please, let's not talk about 'hiding to nothing' when McGregor has been fortunate enough to not only be in this position this long but have his contract extended. If we do well then serious questions (from the people that matter) won't be asked and McGregor will simply continue in his position. If we don't then questions will be asked of McGregor, and rightly so.

I found it crazy how the Bronco's got JD for the 1 year and are now replacing him with Walters. WTF?
Sounds like they did this as a stop gap whilst Walters concentrates on QLD for a season to prove himself which he did.

I am hoping and seriously Saints have been making some good moves in the past (except the re-signing of Mary early in the season), that they sent JD to spend some time with Wayne Bennett so he can come in when Mary fails. They may have some close ties with Wayne and asked for this hence why he took him. I mean JD has been the most successful coach in the red v winning both comps in 2016. Nobody has done that for the Dragons in the juniors so you assume he will be held in higher regard than the other 2 (Hornby / Young). I am sure the juniors coming through would love to work with their previous coach who got them a premiership.

I really hope Saints can get JD back as he is a gun coach and his records speaks volumes. Best of all the rookies going around. One good thing is, IF Mary gets the boot there are some good replacements floating around.

Knowing Saints luck, they will win their first 6, to get the board the warm and fuzzy feeling which will keep him at the job all season regardless if they lose all of the next 16.

So for Saints to do well we need to have the team and coaching staff on weekly retentions only. As soon as we sign them for any length of time, they stop performing. So week to week engagements keeps them performing. And if they don't perform, out they go.

I'd love to have JD back, but I don't think he was replaced by Walters, I think they will both be assistants.

Happy to be shown where I'm wrong, but that's how it reads to me.

Maybe we need to bow down to the master race and master plan of Doust.
Send JD up to Brisbane get some experience under the Master - Bennett, then get him back here to take up to the top and the superemcy of the storm so we are Number 1 every year after ----
I need a Tom Raudonakis Slap.
Sorry boys - I had a dream!!!!

It's great seeing the Broncos going down the same path as the Dragons, jobs for the boys, you can only hope for JD given a go at some point with us, but I still prefer T Smith before JD!

Cream may rise to the top, but don't forget the other truism: Shit floats-gold sinks.

JD is the assistant coach to Bennett at the Broncos and will be there in 2018. Bennett gave him an almighty wrap in a recent interview. Walters is coming in as part of the assistant coaching team purely as a halves specialist. I still feel JD will be in the box seat to eventually take over from Bennett. He won't be back IMO!

Notwithstanding it would take a miracle of gargantuan proportion s for Demetriou to return, the Dragons simply cannot take the gamble of appointing a third rookie coach in succession.

No thanks.

Well, Arthur was a rookie coach, assistant at Manly.... before going to Parramatta ....and raising them from the dead.

Cleary was a rookie coach before taking on the warriors job ....and doing a great job there.

Experienced coaches.
Ricky Stuart, gets sacked from the Roosters, failed at Cronulla, left Parramatta a mess, and finishes behind Mary in 2017.

Canberra is flopping.

Madge wins a premiership in 2014, but in 3 years since, his experience has resulted in nothing but poor results.

Henry - Experienced coach, not wanted at the cowboys any longer, then sacked by the Titans.

Tim Sheens - Experience personified - Sacked by the tiger's.

Experience can mean something, but often it means nothing.

Rookie coaches like Cleary and Arthur have proved that if the background of the guy is exceptional.....chances are a great rookie will be no more of a risk than a so called experienced coach.

Experienced coaches get sacked every year.
