He won the Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas which I really enjoyed(mind you I always had a thing for Elisabeth Shue).
His movies lately resemble a punch drunk fighter going into the ring one too many times. He did an awful movie with Nicole Kidman not long ago to add to his list of trash that makes his hits from the 90’s seem like they never actually happened.

I couldn't do justice describing how bad he is in this. He plays some small town Mob boss with a bowl cut wig. I've seen better fake noses on kids at Halloween and he talks like has mild Down syndrome and autism rolled into one. I was actually embarrassed for him

No mate. You did justice because that’s how bad he is.

It seems like sooo long ago but Nic Cage was once a very engaging actor (feel weird typing that...lol). He fully deserved the oscar for "Leaving Las Vegas" with an unbelievable performance. Most of his movies before the "Con Air" era well well acted entertaining movies.
Despite being great action movies (Con Air, Face-Off, The Rock"), I feel this era was the beginning of the end of his "acting" career. He very much seems to appear in movies for a quick pay check with no passion in his acting craft. Disappointing as I was a fan.

Loved him in Birdy* and thought he would go far, must have been one of his first movies, but when he started doing action movies, bleh.

* Also has a brilliant Peter Gabriel soundtrack.

Watched The Circle (Tom Hanks, Emma Watson) on the plane. It was f**king dreadful. Boring, cliched, poorly structured, dull.

Emma Watson cannot act.

The Founder - The story about the commercialisation/expansion of McDonalds by Ray Kroc, played by Michael Keaton. A really enjoyable flick that is well acted by all the main characters especially Keaton who continues to keep me entertained long after his role in Johnny Dangerously.

Sully 7.5/10 - Compact and interesting insight into the famous Hudson River landing. Makes it's point nicely and doesn't get preachy.

Passengers 8/10 - I enjoyed this more than I thought I would after critics tore it apart and not being a Pratt or JLaw fan. But both were fine, the scale of the plot is under control by focussing on being a human drama and has some pretty amazing visuals. Not life changing but good solid sci-fi that asks interesting questions.

Poor ol Cage was still hanging in there with Adaptation, Matchstick Men, Lord of War... but then they just stopped handing him decent scripts along with the likes of Christian Slater, John Travolta, Val Kilmer etc. Even Al Pacino stars in mostly stinkers.

What else are they supposed to do to keep the money rolling in other than acting in B grade turds now.

Arrival. Interesting movie that I need to watch again. Asks a difficult question that will make you ask what would you do?

Mother 9/10. Best movie i have seen at the cinema for yonks. For reals i spent the final 20 odd minutes just sitting on the front of my chair with my mouth open. I recommend anyone who goes to this to go in knowing nothing and just get blown away. It also leaves you with a lot of stuff that only sinks in later.

Before I Fall- Sort of Groundhog Day with teenagers. Not bad. 6/10

I have to admit that for a movie I hated, it sure kept me in suspense. In the end, I just found the whole thing pretty f**king senseless. Im aware that the movie had a deeper meaning....I just didn't really care.
