Quite a few good games being held in areas that aren't traditionally Rugby League areas.

For those of us travelling interstate (or living in 'enemy territory') we'll need some reliable venues that will put every game on a decent screen in the main bar without desperation searches and begging confused Victorian staff.
It would be good if this could be organised in advance - something like Official RLWC Fan Venues.

I'm thinking we could message the WC organisers via whatever avenues we have to ask if such a thing exists/suggest they make it exist.

But before that - do Melbourne/Perth people (and non-Auckland Kiwis too probably) have any reliable pubs for watching Rugby League? Only place i've ever heard for Melbourne is the casino. And last time I tried that their Foxtel was supposedly out..

For the world cup in 2008 I set myself up as the unofficial England fans chief pub finder lol

In Melbourne I got everyone to meet at the elephant & wheelbarrow...we got them to put a group game on the TVs too...can't remember who? France v Scotland I think?

England fans took over the Caxton too for the semi & final..I enjoyed that lol

Nah...it's not very fan friendly..

I did explore the idea of either doing England's group games or doing the semi final & final, which would have been my 5th world cup final, but decided against it unfortunately..

For all my whinging about it I'll probably come down in 2019 for the lions tour

In Perth the Paddington ale house will be a good bet. They usually show nrl and have a great range of beer! Sports bar at the casino will also likely be showing it. After that it will be hit and miss.

For anyone going to the England game in Perth then I suggest the queens pub Beaufort street for pre game drinks. The Brisbane is just around the corner from the stadium but gets packed unless you get in early.
