vs Tigers

I only got to catch the last 25 minutes of the game and have watched the highlights. The te looked solid but Leuluai is our unsung x-factor, he seems to have gelled the team and taken pressure off the halves.

We've all bagged SJ in the past but you can't fault his commitment in the play for his try, he followed the kick down field when nothing was on and really excelerated when there was a fumble in the Tigers in goal.

If we beat an under strength Sharks next week then the team has turned around after whatever was said after round 2

Today's game was more convincing than last weeks, team really seemed to lift when TL came on.

Yeah, agreed, we looked a lot more solid once TL came on. Another game where we seemed to get a fair bit of luck on our side, but you have to take it while you get it. We seem to be getting better each week - abysmal against the Eels, bad against the Dragons, OK against the Cowboys and pretty good against the Tigers. Momentum is on our side and everything seems to be clicking a bit more...cautiously optimistic that we could do alright this year.

So anyone know "the back story" ME mentions in the presser?
Few boys didn't train all week?
"Best to keep them away from me?" - ME

I think it was about the bug going through the team.

Yep, a few late mail postings had Mannering for one possibly being ruled out of the game with a virus. We were lucky today (mainly but not only with Tedesco going off), but it was also probably the best we've played this season.

Watching him I can't help getting the feeling that Tomkins is going to explode at some point in the next few games, once he plays his way into some more fluency and form.

I think Connie coming on and ripping it up lifted the team too.
TL & Connie have been the missing ingredients.

With the injuries the Tigers were never going to win... but the refs f**ked them pretty bad, by God we'd be squealing if those decisions went against us..

I don't know about the refs, they were pretty horrendous both ways.
Bukuya penalised for a strip when the ball was lost cold? Led to a Tigers try.

But definitely right about the injuries, we played very well but the scoreline was flattering in the end.

He scored one, and set up at least 2 right? He just had some basic errors he really needs to sort out.

The ball needs to be in his hands as much as possible.

I am surprised at the number of basic errors Tomkins makes given his reputation.
But with his obvious attitude and work ethic its probably just a matter of time before he fixes these.

Now here's a question, is there any room at all for a fit Locke?

I would have Locke playing at 6 in the Vulcans as soon as he is fit

not sure why, you need to trade him. He is a wasted first grader, and Tomkins is preferred. Kevin is a fullback.

The Chad runs your team now, not sure how you miss that, and it is starting to work.

I liked how TL came on as a lock, well played Matt.

.

He does... while we got pumped in the first half, I liked that we scrambled reasonably well, and 'the Chad' was certainly prominent when things were tough... and he's making good use of Mannering who hasn't been cited much in attack for a few years

Liking Townsend at 6, he's really taken the role by the scruff of the next.
TL to lock was a great move.

For me Locke is either wing or nothing, its a toss up between him and Fish.

Well, Glen isn't going to be bumped from the wing spot anytime soon.

Forget the tries, for sheer pace he's our number one.

Perhaps this is why Manu is saying he wants (or has been advised later in the season) to play in the forwards?

Didn't see the full game, only the tries and some other bits and pieces but for the first time ever I was impressed with Johnson's last tackle play options and execution, great short kicking for repeat sets and tries.
