Just reported on league live that if Tinkler pulls out the knights won't have the money to keep Wayne. Mad dog says Wayne won't see out 2014.

even if true, based on his principles i think you'd find he'll at least stick out the season, given the current team morale based on the last couple of weeks..

To even consider him not seeing out the year after what's happened is ludicrous. He does have a soul.

This has been a subject of discussion ever since Tinkler's finances came under the spotlight.

But Bennett is a sideshow to all this, he has done fine out of the game. I doubt he'd walk out mid-season.

Good luck to the Knights.

Personally can't see him coming back to us or going to Brisbane. Dugan and Barba have a couple of years left on their contracts. ;)

Lol he would move anyone to make way for Boyd! I think Bennett will retire but he is a man of honour and will stick with the knights even if he isn't getting paid this year but my understanding his payments have ben prompt to date

Wayne would forsake anything financially to stick with the boys in Newcastle.
Thats my gut feeling.

He has been all class since the tragic events of Alex.

remember all the flack robbie tew copped when he was baulking at the tinkler deal until the bank would provide $10 mill insurance in case the deal went bad?
Tew was branded "the death of football" in Newcastle at the time.... putting at risk a deal that was touted as making the Knights one of the super powers of the NRL...

I wonder if those said people are now throwing Mr. Tew a party - potentially the saviour of league in Newcastle....???

Wayne Bennett is a man of great integrity & would never let the great people of Newcastle down in this most testing time. He will be right beside Alex McKinnon all the way and this year maybe his greatest coaching challenge ever to help unite and heal the Knights. If he were to leave in 2015, I would expect it would only be to retire after a year of great personal heartache & tragedy may take its toll.

I'd have Darbs back in a heartbeat.

He's won two comps, is durable and would work brilliantly with Widdop.

Duges is a super talented indivdual, but he's done nothing in the game in comparison and is an injury magnet.

f**k - play him at 6 and Gaz at 7.

Bit unfair to say he's done nothing in comparison. Dugan has played most go his footy at the raiders so winning a premiership was never going to happen.

Dugan was NSW best player in origin last year.

The biggest thing going against him is durability.

Not having a crack at him - he is a brilliant individual and will win us many games by himself.

Darbs is top shelf talent too. Imagine we had the headache of him, Sir Gareth and Duges in the same team!

I don't think I'd go as far to say that Darius is a much better player than Dugan. TheDuges is x-factor and gamebreaker, Darbs is more of a game winner in terms of making those around him look good. Plus he's up there with Hornby as our biggest competitors in 2010, he hated losing. Would take him back in a heartbeat, shouldnt be hard to find him a spot.
