I thought this was more a top 10 Wrestlemania than a top5 like others, the show was very good without being great or excellent.
The nostalgia of the opening segment was awesome and they certainly got the crowd going but one has to wonder what the point of having Hogan as host was. He did absolutely nothing except rev the crowd up to start things.
HHH/Bryan was good and HHH did the job as he should have done and the crowd went mental, the yes chant was something to behold. The post match beating was exactly the right decision and worked with the psychology of the match.
It was good to see Shield dominant but the match was a waste. I’m really hoping for big things for the 3 of them here on out.
I thought the battle royal was better than it had any right to be once the field was cut down and having Cesaro win was the absolute right decision. Kofi’s spot was amazing and was way better than his Royal Rumble spot this year.
Bray/Cena was good without being great. The tease of having Cena ‘crack’ just didn’t seem plausible at any time and the finish was mind numbingly predictable. I just don’t get what Cena gets out of this. Wyatt would have been shot to stardom with a clean win, now he is just another bloke that lost to superman.
I didn’t watch the show until last night and I successfully stayed away from spoilers and I was completely shocked when Undetaker lost, the crowd reaction was something you will never see again. I don’t necessarily think Brock was the right person to do it but it could work if he is ‘hired’ by the authority to beat Bryan at summerslam and then put someone over huge at mania next year (Roman Reigns would be my preference). For those speculating the outcome was change at the death, that is untrue, multiple reliable sources are reporting that the match went exactly as scripted. Yes Undertaker got a concussion but Lesner winning was scripted.
The triple threat was way better than I thought it would be although not as good as WMXX. Bryan winning was obvious but I thought they could have made use of Hogan/SCSA/Rock here. I’m not suggesting an overbooked finish but they could have had HHH wave out Kane/NAO only to have them met on the ramp by the 3 megastars. Anyways, I don’t feel Bryan pinning Batista took away from the win because it was set up perfectly with Batista power bombing Orton. The yes chant at the end was not the epic moment we were all told it would be, the one at the beginning was way better and it was because the crowd was still in shock over the Undertaker. Still, it was a good wrestlemania moment although I wouldn’t put it in front of Benoit/Eddie.
