Everyone knows Manly stars are on unders. G Stewart was on around 300k as well. Everyone knows the troublesome quotes Manly players gave when the Stewart issue was unfolding in the press.

They're all on unders bigtime.

Stewart is not on overs. 400k a year for an elite forward is not overs.

Stay tuned - by this afternon it will be $500k.

Everyone knows Stewart's contract (and a LOT of the Manly player contracts) was heavily back ended. He is on around $800k this season you f*cking imbecile.

It has been written about in the press so many times how Hasler back ended the contracts and that has created the issues.

You truly do just contibute nothing and spew nothing but utter shit.

you think Luke is "over the hill " ?

Good player. But not the ideal hooker. And what we need from our #9 is a traditional hooker skillset and we have 2 players like that who I think both could (before anyone hyperventilates, key word: COULD) be origin material one day. I'd much rather we give them both long term extensions for the money Luke is costing us.

Luke is still a top 5 hooker but I think we have better longterm options. I think he could be a could player for a different club. I just don't want him forcing us to lose 2 people I see as 10 year players.

You are bound to lose 2 of the three. You won't keep two quality hookers at the club for 10 years. Neither will want to sit behind the other for very long no matter how much you think they should.

I like how Manly fans love to blame Des Hasler for their contract situation. How many coaches negotiate player contracts?

hahahaha bugger off idiot. Dollar Des was a massive control freak who did control alot of the contract negotiation at the club.

Don't know what the hell he does at the Dogs but thats how it was at Manly pal.

Are you guided by Bellamy's "I didn't know nuttin'" spiel to the NRL a few years ago to come up with your conclusion coaches don't control most of that stuff?

Most coaches know exactly what is going on with the contracts.

Full genius. You just went there.

Now I'm curious as to what the higher ups at Manly were doing between 2004 and 2011? Paying the electricity bill and making sure there was ink in Des' pen?

Sweetheart, Hasler ran that club.

Go back and have a read about the review that the club did of his role there and the fact they prepared a report expressing their concerns about how much say and control he had.

Thats why they were very wary of offering him more money etc.

If you want to wear your Dessie coloured glasses becuase he's your coach now then knock your socks off.

He hired and fired players he wanted on his terms.

wonder if Luke would want to come up Far North for the rest of the season

god knows we need a hooker

and with June 30 approaching we could swap Tariq for him (or Koroisau)

I don't know where all this chatter about Isaac Luke has come from. He has 12 months to go on his contract and I wouldn't be surprised to see him extend this year. He has mentioned that he wouldn't mind playing for the Warriors one day but in that same interview, he also mentioned that it would probably be his last contract.

Everyone is blowing off about Api and Cam but the fact is, that neither of them are fit to tie up Isaac's boots just yet and it could be 3 to 4 years before either of them get close. Considering the number of hookers who have gone through the club in the last few years, it seems that we know how to produce them so I wouldn't be surprised if we let these two young blokes go and signed up Isaac for another 3 years.

There was a similar buzz a few years back with Falloon and also Segeyaro, last year, everyone was upset when we let Peats go. Fact is, as long as Isaac is at the club and we continue to see some good young talent coming through in that role, we will be well served at hooker for the foreseeable future.

The Rabbits will lose one of their younger hookers if they keep Luke though. There are a couple of clubs in need to a good hooker, the Raiders in particular will have a lot of cash to throw around.

1. Issac Luke has already informed Souths staff he will be leaving at the end of this contract. His preference is Brisbane to reconnect with his wife's family. And as you said he also would like to play for the Warriors one day
2. Issac Luke's next contract is going to be ridiculous money. Considering Farah and Cam Smith are floating around 900k to the million mark, Luke could easily achieve the same
3. Api and Cam already have a better passing game than Luke, nobody is going to match it with Luke for his running game but it depends what you want from a hooker. As a duo I'd say they offer more right now. A lot of whispers from Souths that Madge is unhappy with Luke's ability to make the right options.
4. You can't just rely on another quality hooker appearing out of the blue. We've been blessed with the number of hookers in our system in recent years but soon that will dry up, it can't last forever.
