I'll like to see how Mary goes till end of season before they appoint a coach. I think if they make the semis
Mary should get the job. The players respect him and play for him.

I agree with Joey dragons. Let's not rush in to a panic appointment like before. Give Mary a chance. If the players want him, they need to perform. Make the 8 he deserves the job.

Players are happy to play for him now but if we lose a couple more games are they still happy, this Mary love in makes me sick as he has not beaten a strong team yet and won't.

No more rookie coaches. Go and learn you trade elsewhere! I'm sick to death with this club's acceptance of mediocrity. We haven't made the finals in 3 years and if we appoint Mary who has coached a handful of games were back to where we were 3 years ago.

As Gus would say no, no,no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope Saints wait till the end of the season before they make this decision and not base it on the last 6 weeks. Alot can change by then. Mary has looked good but that is only because the person he took over from was that bad. Anyone would have looked good coming in after the last bloke.

There are some big games coming up and if Mary can get through those and make the 8 then he should be given maybe another year to prove himself.

Unfortunately we are in exactly the same position we were in 2-3 years ago...lets wait and see how the coach performs before we appoint him...give him a chance to show what he has...he's still stamping his authority on the team. All sounds like de ja vu...the plot's the same, only the names have changed...Mary in place of Steve. I fear the outcome will also be the same with type of approach to appointing a coach.

Hook should be approached. A good win loss record, has plenty of experience, is well respected, has had to deal with the retirement of a future immortal and has always prepared a competitive team. He would attract players as well and he now has a big point to prove. Always seems very professional

Exactly. I find it extraordinary that an organisation within an elite professional sport requires to take a wait and see approach to hiring a head coach. I appreciate that Bennett opted for Brisbane but Doust and the Board require an aggressive, pro-active approach in securing the best coach available - which cannot include a 7 game rookie!

I would love to know what the Board seeks to achieve with the appointment of head coach? What are it's objectives? Anything short of pressing for a title (not merely making the top 8) is unacceptable in a sports competitive environment.

Seriously, the incompetence and mismanagement of this football club is incomprehensible and simply would not occur in the real business world which practice due diligence, accountability, transparency and performance measures. This Boys Club of an organisation really needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the professional era.

Giving Mary more games is as stupid as appointing him now. A few wins should not sway what is a big decision for this club. Its also not fair on Mary anyway because from the get go he will be under pressure to continue win every week or face the sack. We need to appoint the right coach and give them the time they need to mould the team. Anything less and we continue on this week to week cycle.

The 2 options I would be happy with are either Daley as coach with McGregor as Assistant, or Neil Henry with his own assistants.

I don't know why everyone bags Henry's record. Henry produced minor miracles in Canberra with what was a very poor squad. He was poached by the Cowboys and had mixed success but you would hardly say was a failure. At both clubs he was highly respected by the players.

So much so, they got Henry the sack from the cowboys.

Riiiggght. The players rolled Henry but were still willing to play out the remainder of the season under Henry, whilst making the finals?

If the players truly respected him, he would still have the job up there. If you truly believe that the senior players did not have any say at all on whether he stayed or went then you have truly been mislead. He is not the coach that we need. There was a few head coach positions available last year and yet he had to take an assistant role

I don't claim to know the inner workings of the Cowboys but there is quote after quote from the likes of Tamou, Thurston, Cooper etc as to how they rallied behind Henry and ran from what was almost last to semi finals in 6-7 weeks.

I would suggest his sacking had more to do with the Cowboys board making the call to change after 5 years in charge. If Henry had lost the confidence of the players there is no way he would have stayed until the end of the season and no way he would have pulled the results in the last half of the season.

I think Borat is regarding Henry...the Cowboys board made that decision, and the players were obviously behind the coach, or he wouldn't have led them on such a strong winning streak to end the year.

I think Daniel Anderson would be a good option if he was willing to leave his role as a talent scout at Parramatta.

I am not saying Henry was a stunning success at the Cowboys otherwise he would still be there. All I am suggesting is with the available options IMO he is the best candidate if we want an experienced FG coach, which I do.
