I think you can add the Tigers game, which we lost, also we should have beaten the Knights at Pirtek. The games where we just haven't front up and got smashed were appalling. They're are plenty of reasons why we probably will not make the Top 8.

FMD, we are hard to please, a team that has won successive wooden spoons, their 2 best forwards out for the majority of the season in Peats and Ma'u,playing 3 kids under 20 upfront and there's a moan about the season

Give them and the coaching staff a heads up for being where they are, it's been a pleasure to go to games thinking we were going to win, how different from the last 2 pretenders that coached

With what the club has coming through and with some astute recruiting, the future looks good

Can't blame the ball boy, its the NRL at fault for a stupid rule, they might as well just bring scrums back, at least you can put a set play on.

That first 20 in the second half was where we needed to score, we had the momentum with us but couldnt get over the line, Semi going himself on the last and a poor Norman kick didnt help.

The effort was outstanding there tonight, it could be our season, but i couldnt be any more happier with the effort the players have put in this year.

Agree with all this..... not taking our chances lost us this one. But I can't be too hard on the boys as their decision making suffered when they got tired, which was a consequence of the refs unnecessary and one-sided influence at the start

it was an atrocious kicks which is why his percentage is so poor and it didn't hit the post so I'm not sure what your point is here

if you're happy to keep losing games because we dont have a decent kicker well good for you, I for one am not especially when we score more tries than our opponents and they still beat us

my point is it was from 1/2 a metre in from touch .... how much it misses by is irrelevant

and yeah I'm happy to keep losing games .... pffft - great statement

Anyway, on the actual ballboy thing. I don't think a kid should be put into a position where he/she has the responsibility for something like that. It's a very important technicality and it makes the NRL look unprofessional. The whole quick tap thing has just been an absolute mess this year. The referees use every excuse they can to not let it happen. They are scared of it.
I 100% agree with you! The problem all stemmed from the fact that when the NRL changed the rules and introduced a quick tap from a successful 40/20 they didn't think about the implications of the ball boys speeding up the play/slowing down play. I just had a quick look at the Official NRL rules and it says nothing in there as far as I know about the ball boys having to place the ball for the winger to pick up and throw to the hooker to restart play.

I agree with you again about the referees being scared of the quick tap. I think the main reason they're scared is because the rules on it are so vague and hard to interpret. Like this whole business of no quick tap if its a 10m penalty or if its 10m out from the opposition goal line? I don't even know what the proper rule is but I'm even more unsure why we have it and why it was brought in! In all honesty I think this whole fiasco with the quick tap started because coaches were whinging that their players didn't have enough time to get back 10m from a penalty! So what? That's the whole idea behind taking a quick tap! Allan Langer made a career out of that sort of thing!

As a result of all this, referees look for any reason possible to bring back quick taps! A good old classic is the "nah nah nah mate! You didn't take the tap from the correct spot!" Or the one that really frustrates me is when the referees bring play back from the tap because "they weren't in position yet". Any way you look at it the referees are in the wrong with that one! If they aren't in position they are either too slow and not fit enough or they're completely ignorant of where they're supposed to be! To be honest I don't really think its either of those, I think its more to do with them being scared of allowing a quick tap.

I think the disallowing of quick taps has snowballed and a result referees who do allow a quick tap will be slammed for inconsistency and so therefore its become an almost unofficial rule to disallow all quick taps!

its relevant because he probably would have missed it from any angle

if he was teeing off, that ball would have been out of bounds

I'm assuming the quick tap was maybe just a little bit about stopping the mouth flapping dickhead captains of some teams from wanting to have a 3 minute chat every penalty .... but I think there are better ways to stop that

oh bullshit .... he shanked it cos it was further out and he was trying to kick it harder

I'm not saying I'm happy with sandow's kicking (tho he's far better than any other option we've tried this year) ..... BUT that particular kick was extremely low percentage and to make some broad "we lost the game cos of goal kicking" type statement is just utter rubbish

Nah, they owe us one. AND if they screw Manly, then it helps Souths in the minor premiership race.

It'll come down to how much their hate for Ando outweighs the 'rig'!

refs have always favoured Manly espeially since Toovey went off and they already have it in for us and plan to dud us and let the opposition get away with murder

there were so many things last night that we were rorted on

when Hayne had the ball knocked out it was ruled a loose carry. would have been a knock on if we'd done it

Morgan was not allowed to play on when he wasn't held and the refs called him back to play the ball

Morgan had the ball stripped and they called it a loose carry

those pricks in pink had it in fr us before they even stepped on the field

the NRL is a joke

I am not sure if anyone else has said it but we had 35 minutes to score, dominated them but couldn't get the try. Forget what happened with the 40/20 in the 78th minute and see that we just don't have the polish to get the winning try. Even after that incident Hopoate gets talked into touch.

We had so many half chances but couldn't get a try, we basically dominated for the last half but we didn't offer enough in attack to break them.

Agreed. We can't blame the refs or the ball boy. Morgan's pass behind Semi, Hanye losing the ball after his break and Hoppa running towards the touchline were all chances we threw away.
