Don't get why people think he won't be able to pick the game up.
Let's assume he's on the offensive side. The coaching staff & quarterback call all the plays. They practice these plays at training until they do it in their sleep. So as soon as Hayne hears "24 blah blah red blah" he knows exactly where he's running to and the likeliness of him getting the ball. All he really has to learn is terms the coaching staff are using. It's not that difficult a sport to learn especially if your training is a fulltime job (even more so then it was in NRL). And it's not like teams will pass over him because he has to learn it, every year teams bring in new players to the organisation who also have to learn the playbook.

Lack of instincts may hurt his chances, but the need for those lifetime developed instincts are rare as well.

In terms of athleticism, yeah there may be some younger Americans who are more athletic, but in US sports they have their minimum athletic testing scores, which if you qualify within the tests it really doesn't matter if there were guys who could run 100m 1 second quicker than you, you move on to the next lot of assessments. And I reckon this is why he has gone, he has been through some testing was within the minimums.

The main factor in whether he makes it or not will be whether there is a team looking at him and what he brings fits their criteria and that there is no other option that fits that criteria better. To which I don't think (haven't seen any college football recently) there would be any other player with identical attributes, plus I think Hayne's only criteria is to actually get signed, and very little to do with money. I reckon it's a small timeframe (probably late 2016) for him to mesh his attributes with a team's criteria.

I give him 50/50 shot

He can also be a punter. Hayne has one of the biggest/longest kicking game in the NRL.

He can torpedo that ball 60 metres off a standing start.

Welcome to the Big time Haynzy.

I'm stoked. With Hayne gone we now have the money to strengthen the rest of the team. There is also now room for better leaders to step up and for all our other players to take some ownership.

Absolute blessing in disguise. You'll see.

I'm not. Maybe I have Stockholm syndrome.

I've always looked forward to a new season. Unfortunately when you measure up the roster less Hayne against most of the NRL I am certainly very despondent regarding next year. To the point where I couldn't really care less. I've had more hope when we win two spoons....

Ask yourself.
If parra signed the best wide reciever in the nfl to come and play here would you be excited or pessimistic about him making it? I obviously would think it would be a dumb signing not cause of there power and strength but they dont know the game.
Do you think hayne is bigger faster and strongest player in nrl? Semi probably has him beat but is no where near the same player.....Just like league, nfl is more than beeing a superior athlete

In hindsight we could've kept Kelepi and Loko

Loko was moved on by the club because of his attitude. It had become extremely poor, and we really had no other option. Didn't matter what happened with other players he was always going to be told to look elsewhere.

any word on how he's going with recovery over at canterbury? Heard NOTHING in the media or from the club in regards to him could he get cut?

Why? Kelepi and Loko would both still struggle to crack first grade.
What Hayne has done would've had zero impact on those decisions.

Exactly.

A well managed team won't pay marquee money to backups. If Loko and Kelepi were earning over $400k between them, then good thing they were moved on.
We could have kept them, but decided to allocate their money towards a marquee player

Now Hayne has gone, we are in a position to make a move on 2 marquee players ($600k base salary x 2 + TPA + long serving allowance still in play, but 'reducing' Mannah's hit)
If one of those players is Watmough, then well and good. I'd rather we don't sign a non-marquee guy if we can't get a 2nd one, just play below the cap for a year and try acquire someone for the following season.

I'm not 100% sure, last time i heard anything was he was up to light jogging and was hoping to be ready for pre-season.

He will be ready for pre season.

Had another minor surgery a few weeks back and is on time for when the club returns to training.

The training facilities at Belmore got flooded in by the rain last week so they may have to take their training elsewhere until the repair work is finished.

They have been impressed with him so far which is great to hear.

Seen a couple of rumours that Brett Delaney has signed? anyone else heard this?

Would be very surprised given I'm certain the commentators mentioned he signed a five year deal extension with Leeds during the ESL finals
