There is probably only a handful of guys that Kearney signed who are still playing regular first grade.

To be fair, some have retired, and not every player was signed with the idea that they'd be a regular FG starter (he didn't exactly have big $$ to play with for the 2011 season). And Allgood was with us before Kearney started.

W. Hopoate
Sandow
B. Roberts (ish)
Seffa (lol)
Semi

He was a crap coach, but I don't envy the position he was in when he got here, and the constant crap coming from boards/elections etc.

Are the Foran Rumours from a couple of weeks ago true? are we having a punt?

We might as well spend the money as soon as possible and not wait for Hayne, plus with Sandow and Hopoate off contract at the end of 2015 we will already have a huge amount of cap space (if we decide to let those two go).

Im just wondering why the sharks are front runners to sign a 1m dollar half and we are surely sitting on a bank load of money yet nothing has happened yet.

Either the leaks have stopped, or the journalists are making shit up again.

Only one of the best songs ever. Odd that I can never remember its name - in five minutes' time it will be on the tip of my tongue, soon to vanish for months on end.

Yep, they had that and 'Almost With You' in a very short period of time. Both great songs. There's are interesting acoustic versions of both of those on an album The Church released about 10 years ago.

And no one thinks we're paying any freight on Allgood?

As long as it's less than the 25th highest paid player who cares?

Also, his next contract wouldn't have been all good if he had spent 2015 in NSW Cup. That would have given Allgood some incentive to accept a payout favourable to the Eels.

I forgot about 'Almost With You', another great one. Several times I've referred to "An Unguarded Moment' as 'The One That's Better than Under The Milky Way'. I will check out the acoustic versions, never heard 'em.

Good point. Then it's All Good. So why did we have so many complaints about the 750k or so we were paying to players no longer here? Surely all those payments didn't go on our cap? I can't even remember who those losers were.

Now just get rid of HUNT....Will he even make wenty?
Forty20 how would your backline in Wenty stack up? I would think Crooks gets a spot somewhere. But assuming Robinson taka and champion play firsts, you have toutai-hunt-faraimo-crooks-goodal-lavaka-hunt-falou. 8 guys 5 spots?

As much of an issue as the $750k was all the top 25 slots we lost. It put massive pressure on our second tier cap from very early in the season.

This will be an overly long post that is probably better suited to the Wenty thread but anyway...

With Robinson in first grade and Hunt sticking around I would probably go something like:

1. Hunt
2. Goodall/Lavaka/Folau/Crooks
3. Morgan
4. Toutai
5. Goodall/Lavaka/Folau/Crooks

Faraimo did a good job for Wenty this year (NSW Cup Player of the Year, no less) but he has a few major weaknesses in his game like poor acceleration and a sluggish turn rate that put a ceiling on his potential. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he was the first winger picked for Wenty in 2015 but I think our 3 NYC graduates can offer more while Crooks is held in good regard by one of our assistant coaches, which makes it hard to see him coming over here to play in the Ron Massey Cup.

If Hunt gets rissoled I would probably play Robinson at fullback for Wenty and promote someone else to the wing in first grade (Toutai probably the favourite before pre-season results). I don't think Robinson really offers that much on the wing and I'm not really a fan of his in general. He is alright as far as a backup fullback goes but I have no faith in his ability to cart the ball up or defend his edge.

If the club are still keen to keep all of our backs in the NSW Cup Faraimo and Goodall could slot into the forward pack without too much trouble, while Folau also has a smidgen of experience in the back row.

With that said the pack is also over stacked with eight or nine slots open (most likely eight assuming De Gois and Pritchard both play for Wenty) and the following players available:

Eric Newbigging
David Gower
Daniel Alvaro
Richie Fa'aoso
Tui Kamikamica
Darcy Lussick
Shannan McPherson
Tepai Moeroa
Cody Nelson
Pauli Pauli
Joseph Paulo
Peni Terepo
Joseph Ualesi
Danny Wicks

Kenny Edwards, Manu Ma'u, Tim Mannah, Junior Paulo, Nathan Peats and Anthony Watmough are nigh certainties for the first grade squad, in my opinion. That means that four of the above will play in the NRL leaving ten players for Wenty. Moeroa can still play in the Holden Cup so that potentially takes it down to nine but that is still too many forwards available to simply jam spare big wingers into the pack.

Barring injury there will be a number of players who will have to play Ron Massey Cup simply due to our massive squad size. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if any of Lussick, Morgan or Terepo were moved on this coming season in light of this and also due to the fact that they are the only players left on the roster that he neither recruited or has chosen to re-sign.

With lussick i agree with you but mpre because he is a power puff most of the time for what hia capable of and when he is one he gets suspended for being reckless. Waste of momeh irrespective of how big the Squad is.

Morgans future imo depends on crooks, falou and champions progression. Morgan is a food squad player but no starting centre so he isnt worth too much more then base maybe 120-150 absolute maximum. If any of the three above explode then morgan may ne an option for a back up on a reduced salary but if one of the three above mentioned does no better then morgan they would probably be the preferred option as squad players because they wont be able to demand or expect a larger income. I think Terepo wwould be a decent squad player though, he has heart and is the kind of guy that might improve rapidly from 26-28 when he will be close to his heaviest similar to fui
