I think you are severely underrating Mariota the guy is a top QB prospect, not Luck elite level prospect, he has some things to improve but very good, not many are Luck/Elway/Manning type of prospect with basically zero faults.

Mariota stands head and shoulders above the rest of the QB's in this class.

You are spot on about the rest though Winston is overrated imo along with Brett Hundley from UCLA & Sean Mannion from Oregon State, overall a weak class.

The guys I think may emerge as we get closer to the draft are Garrett Grayson from Colorado State & Shane Carden from East Carolina.
Something to watch I think will be Cardale Jones from the Buckeyes...

He's already stated he's going to come back... But if he has an absolute blinder in the CFP final he could opt to take his chance and go pro instead of possibly falling back in to the college depth charts...

Which team would go after Winston with his off field issues? Titans or Bills perhaps? He has bust written all over him IMO.

Yeah i wouldnt touch Winston... let someone else take the punt on him, if he hits, so be it, ill live with that as a GM. But im not taking that gamble. He'd be off my board.

Hey Nick... I had an interesting discussion with my younger brother who's an Eagles tragic...

He was of opinion that the Eagles should trade up to 1 and grab Mariota... He said he would offer this years 1 with LeSean McCoy, Nick Foles and maybe some later round picks if that wasn't enough...

I was thinking about it from Tampa's perspective.... I'd take that... McCoy is a franchise guy... Who's in his prime... And Foles is a decent young QB who could be a long term guy... Or more likely be a guy to hold them over until the next young QB comes along...

For the Eagles I think that would be worth it... McCoy is great... But the value of RB's has diminished in the league... I think you could pick up a great young RB in the draft to compliment Sproles...

Mariota at the Eagles in chips system could turn the Eagles in to a Super Bowl contender for the next decade...

What do you reckon Nick??

The media circus thats follows Winston is pretty ridiculous imo.

He was cited for stealing a few dollars worth of crab legs, in trouble for shooting BB guns with friends and yelling "f**k her right in the pussy". Now people think hes a ticking time bomb?

Strikes me as immaturity, you know the stuff a 19/20 year old kid would do.

Whys that?

Because aside from all the other stuff that you've already mentioned and the guy already appearing to be a loose cannon, reports are that he raped that woman and I believe Winston has been protected by FSU security forces and the local police force. They've destroyed evidence and refused to investigate. I'm not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Call it unjust if you will, but he's off my board. Let him be someone else's problem.

Isn't Cobb a FA?

Yes, but don't think he will leave.

We can afford the going rate for a good slot receiver, and he either stays at the greatest club in league history and plays with a HOF QB, and potentially is one day in HOF discussions himself.

....or he takes a few dollars more to go to some shitty franchise, finish 6-10 every year and be forgotten by time.

A contending franchise isn't going to pay him more, so I think we probably get a hometown discount and move on. GB rarely loses these sort of guys.

And don't get me wrong, I can't see GB taking any wideout. Would be fun though.

We will go Defence probably first three rounds.

The Broncos don't need Cobb Mac. ;-)

Watch the Raiders draft Winston. The spirit of Al Davis lives on...

Just lose baby!

Any report saying he raped that woman is nothing but libel, and something the media has enjoyed lapping up.

He was accused. The States Attorney said there wasnt enough evidence to even charge him and an Independent Arbitrator found there wasnt enough evidence to charge him with violations of the school code of conduct.

I think Winston will flourish in the pros.

I think 2 weeks ago i'd have said it doesnt matter what i think, that it's a pointless thought to have, because Howie's in charge of that and he doesnt roll like that... Now with Chip in control of these decisions, it's worth commenting on

A few things:

1. We are over paying LeSean McCoy, i believe him to be a top 3 RB in this league, minimum, but he's making a lot of money for a position that is very much devalued. I think any RB, with even a modicum of talent could make hay in this system. And i think the Eagles would honestly benefit greatly from having a more north-south runner, than have the constant negative plays that come with Shady's desire to constantly break it off for 20.

We might not get the MASSIVE game changing plays from another RB, but to tie it into this draft, any number of backs like Davis could fill that spot

2. If we were moving up to #1 for Mariota, it obviously makes sense that Foles would be part of the deal. No issue with that, Foles for Mariota is a nice change for our system. Ive got no issue dispensing with Foles if it helps net Mariota.

If all it costs us was McCoy, Foles, 20th and a late round pick, i'd absolutely pull the trigger to move up for Mariota. But that deal isnt going to get it done unless the Bucs feel Foles is 100% a franchise guy. And even then in context of this, it would probably take Foles, McCoy, 2015 1st, 2015 2nd and probably our 2016 1st as well... Im not so sure about that.

But Chip has the keys to this thing now, so anythings possible. If Chip feels Mariota is worth that, well, ill be pretty nervous about it, but to be honest, im ALL IN on Chip Kelly and Mariota would complete this offense.

Here'e what i'll add too, i dont think the Eagles will move up into the top pick to get him, i cant see them moving into the top 10 to get him.

It's been said in the media that a lot of personnel guys and even some of us amateurs here, are not sold on Mariota being an any system guy, that you need a specific coach and plan for him, you need to run a system for him, if the combine comes and he starts falling, teams start viewing him as a system QB, then come draft day, he starts sliding... if he finds his way out of the top 10... if he's sitting on the board with the Saints on the clock @ 13... now we might see some action

i like him in the little he has played he is very impressive but I really doubt he declares, I think he comes back next year is the starter & becomes a top QB prospect for next years draft.

if he does he would add too a strong QB class likely already containing Christian Hackenberg from Penn State & Connor Cook from Michigan State at the top of it

Connor Cook is an interesting guy, he certainly made plays when they needed him to!

I like Cardale but he would really benefit from another year

I would also be shocked to see Mariota go #1 overall
