Jackson Hastings anyone ?

Appears to have an big ego and apparently on the outer at the Roosters. But can play fullback. Probably not experienced enough but, however could give us options if our first options for half/fullback don't perform in 2016. Probably wants to much as well

Can play fullback alright. He bumped Valentine Holmes to the wing in the Jnr Roos game this weekend.

He's Penrith-bound.

i'm concerned like most here that we're tying up alot of money on some aging backrowers that could possibly be poor players on their final contract years.

Maybe we should worry about the final years of their contracts when they happen. I doubt they will go from Origin players to duds in the space of three years, and even if they do, that's the price we've chosen to pay for the short term benefit we signed them for. The alternative would be to pay overs up front, which would hurt us in the short term. By signing these guys one year too long we keep their price down.

i would imagine and hope the club is investing in this strategy to instill the leadership and cultural change required to foster the next crop of young forwards coming through.

it's the only way it makes sense to me.

I think it's obvious we've needed this type of player for a long time.

you might be right, but the response was to your test selection point which is now hopefully accepted as moot.

and you don't know how watmough or scott's deal is broken up so don't pretend like you do.

Mate if you don't get my point you're the one with the comprehension issues. I just showed you a bunch of forwards still at the top of their game in their early 30s. That was in response to you whinging about signing forwards in their early 30s.

and you don't know how watmough or scott's deal is broken up so don't pretend like you do.

You're the one whinging about their impact on our salary cap. Why is it okay for you to pretend you know how much they're getting?

My point was based on simple logic. If we got them by offering a year longer than their current clubs then to sign them for a shorter duration (and therefore less attractive to the player) we would have had to pay more money. That's just how financial transactions work. You don't need to know the details of their contracts to apply economic principles. If we didn't offer the extra year we would have had to offer something else. That means more money.

You don't rate the current NSW right edge forward?

No, not one bit.

What does he do? He tackles well and [allegedly] hits hard - David Gower cost afeaction of what Scott does, and is five times the player.

"But if Gower is so good, why isn't he playing rep footy?"

Seriously? Your basis on how good a player is whether or not they play or have played rep footy? Well, Thomas Leuluai, David Williams, Richard Villasanti, Michael De Vere, Adam Mogg and Brett Finch have all played rep footy, and they blow chunks.

Scott is a much better defender than Gower. He's one of the best defenders in the comp, plus he's tough, aggressive and influential. And has loads more experience than Gower.

Gower has more skill than Scott but our team struggles in defence. Our attack is fine. Anyway why not have both players?

The best forwards in the game are all on the mature side of 30. Here's the Aussie pack:

8. Scott (30)
9. Smith (32)
10. Woods (24)
11. Bird (31)
12. Thaiday (30)
13. Parker (33)
14. Lewis (32)
15. Merrin (26)
16. Myles (30)
17. Tamou (27)

8. Scott (30) Guaranteed if he was signing a new contract for 3 or 4 more years his pay would be downgraded.
9. Smith (32) Has no major injury worries and is a freak.
10. Woods (24) Prime of his career.
11. Bird (31) Same as Scott.
12. Thaiday (30) Same as Scott and Bennett agrees.
13. Parker (33) Same as Scott, but unlike BS and AW has no injury worries.
14. Lewis (32) Already Downgraded and still playing better then AW.
15. Merrin (26) Prime of his career.
16. Myles (30) In the process of being downgraded.
17. Tamou (27) Cowboys want to downgrade him, but Sticky is his retirement fund in the making.
