Tell that to the dozens of vaguely 'Middle Eastern looking' people who get 'randomly picked' to be searched or scanned at airports.

It's not as big a problem here in Australia, thankfully, but it's a huge issue in the US.

That's just the most basic profiling, because those involved are too stupid or too ill trained or both to get past the "Arab=terrorist" association. Or too racist, yes. That's not what Drew meant, I would have to assume, because that won't stop shit. Proper profiling happens at a higher level (FBI and serial killers, for example)

Arabic male, 18-40, Islamic fundamentalist leanings, recorded anti-western rhetoric, family killed in fighting in Mosul, history of violence, no return ticket, no baggage....that's more like profiling. And even that's simplistic. It's just a threat identification system, you can apply it to any situation and substitute any of those factors. Again, serial killers in the US being the other major example (they tend to be white males)
