2 South Sydney Players rushed to hospital

Why does the fact they did something stupid to the point of almost dying mean they should be treated differently than if they were caught doing the same stupid thing without hospitalisation?

I can't remember any players being sanctioned by the NRL for painkiller abuse. It is rampant across most if not all clubs.

Sounds like the mix of prescribed drugs is not a good one at all. And apparently energy drinks found in the house.

Lots of finger pointing here but oxy apparently peps you up while tramadol makes you drowsy. Combined with energy drinks I wouldn't be surprised if the boys ended up self prescribing their doses to try and even out the side effects

Oxy definitely doesn't pep you up. It essentially converts to morphine once ingested. It's pretty much the strongest oral pain med you can get before you are getting injected with something.

If two average blokes OD'd on the same drug at the same time in the same place at 4am while on holidays then the public would just knowingly glance at each other.

When it involves footy people it must be a bad dose or an accident or a bad reaction or an unfortunate addiction or the doctors fault.

No, when it involves footy people it's a SCANDAL!!!

Says the f**king turncoat.

yeah because not supporting a club anymore (for good reasons), is the same as laughing about 2 players that nearly died. unfortunately most people on LU are circle jerking f**kwits, just like you

Seems a lot of people wanting to throw blame here. The actual facts we know:

1) Overdose on prescribed pain drugs.
2) alcohol was not found on scene - even though other friends were there
3) other friends were there apparently not on any sort of drug or stimulant
4) they were consuming red bulls, and it happened quite late at night
5) Gray was not breathing when the ambulance arrived
6) both were put into induced comas

Based on the situation I think it's plausible the were trying to get a kick out of the drugs. But just as plausible that they were up late, experiencing pain from the surgery and took the ill advised steps of "trying" the other player's prescription to see if it worked better.

Very silly but there is a lot of presumption about why this occurred.

We can conclude they did something dumb but let's not take it to the point that these were being used recreationally when the facts don't support it - yet

Obviously the Tigers weren't winning enough for you. Needed to bandwagon jump...

You missed a fact.. The police are now involved and investigating.

Souths fans yourself included are making presumptions as well, just the opposite to everyone else.

another f**kwit circle jerker! they made the top 4 in 2010 and 2011 and were favoured to win the comp in 2012, but i stopped supporting them at the end of 2011, so obviously it wasn't for on-field reasons. if it was a bandwagon jump it would have been to a club that had won a premiership in the last few decades, at the time. on field results don't change my support. never has, never will!

You changed clubs... unless the club has wronged you there really is no reason to change clubs. Tigers fans who have stuck by the club are true fans, you are not. Parra fans who have stuck by their club through alot of.on field and off field turmoil are true fans, you are not.

So what does it take foryou to jump ship?

So long as they had a prescription for the use of the drugs then it may just be a simple accident or it could be that they were not meant to have them? No one really knows and I am sure it will all come to light. I never believe the clubs first statement as it's usually to deflect any blame or criticism.

Two young lives, irrespective of who they play for or whether your a Souths fan could have died and it highlights that these guys often don't know the full effects of what they're taking. was either player injured and in need of the drugs? Were they an old prescription which had some left over?

No alcohol found could be simply they wanted to get a buzz off something prescribed to them. Might be that stupid and simple.

Glad they're okay in any case.

Yeah I said you missed a fact, not you conveniently left out a fact.

As much as I dislike souths I hope this is an innocent mistake, I really do. A couple of young adults risking their lives for a high/buzz is not something I like to see, and having two young children and knowing how prevalent this behavior is scares the shit out of me as a father.

It would have just been Endone tablets one or both of them got prescribed for pain relief post surgery.
