Broncos/Cowboys rivalry

We hear about this whole big brother vs little brother thing, but where is the rivalry? There's the yearly big crowd at Suncorp for this supposed rivalry between the two, but are we going to see it this week?

This week should be the pinnacle of the supposed rivalry, but so far it's just been a maroon love in. Is it even a real rivalry? Can it be one?

Where's the passion Queenslanders?

Happy now?

Because for 10 f**king years straight I had to witness the Broncos coming to my town, flogging us ever year, parading around my teams stadium at full time waving to their fans thinking it was their own stadium, going out in my town afterwards thinking they owned it and all the women in it as well and having to put up with their trackhead fans rubbing it in year after year about how shit my team is and how great theirs is. You lot think the BS you read in the couriermail and channel 9 about us all loving one another is true, I can give you a tip, it is a load of horse shit, especially from the NQ side of things. I absolutley hate Brisbane and everything they stand for and will til the day I die. Their fans and club do not know what hard times are and probably never will due to thr size of the city and the amount of cash the club generates.

You blokes have NFI, half of you have probably never ventured any further north than f**king Brisbane in your lives as it is so are talking out your asses. Just because we dont riot at the train station and stadium afterwards or carry on like complete f**kheads at full time like I've seen countless times in the 10 years I lived in Sydney, doesn't mean we dont hate each other. I would prefer to see most sydney teams win a GF over the merkining broncos.

Nice to hear a Qlder who gets that the NRL and State of Origin are two different things. Having to sit through Manly, Easts or the Bulldogs playing each other in Grand Finals is a total bore no matter how many Blues players are in the squads because I just couldn't really give a f**k who wins. It's like election day, it's not "Who do I want to win" so much as "Who would I rather NOT win?" Thank f**k the Cowboys spared us a Broncos v Roosters or Storm decider!

...And may Broncos fans slowly learn that a legitimate "drought" lasts much longer than 9 years...

Brisbane really needs another team. Maybe this time the Broncos won't murder it in its cot.

Fans of little brother are always gonna hate big brother more than vice versa. Same goes for NZ/Aus rivalry. Kiwis will always value wins over Aus more than the other way around.

Broncos had it easy from day one with a defacto QLD team from the get go in particular the team from the 90's who wouldn't be together in today's salary cap era. Eventually, the Broncos will go through hard times like the Cowboys did from 95-03, 08-10 of just pure hell.

The two teams love each other. I attended the first Auckland Nines. They met in the Grand Final and after the game Parker and Cooper (captains of each team) harped on about how great it is to have an 'All QLD GF'.
This isn't a Souths/Roosters thing or Dragons/Sharks or anything like that. They are basically best friends that can't separate NRL and State of Origin.

It is a different rivalry on the basis that there is mutual respect there.
If there wasn't such a rivalry the games between the two clubs wouldn't be so intense, both teams lift.

If you're expecting punch ons and elbows in the face it isn't going to happen.

Nothing more obnoxious than an actual North Queenslander that supports the Broncos, cause you can bet your bottom dollar had the fortunes been reversed you'd have jumped on the bandwagon to follow the Cowboys.

The Townsville Cowboys are only North Queensland by name. I'm not gonna follow a team that pretends to represent something they don't.

All I took from this is you hate the Broncos because they're better at football and one of them screwed your missus.

Yeah less successful little brothers always hate it when a older brother is more successful, with better things, and so on. :p

This is a good point. I've seen this at clubs in Brisbane, and it's not nice to watch these ego filled pricks go about their business.

However, you can't just say it's Brisbane. It's every rugby league team. I'm sure NQC is just the same.

I don't mind the Cowboys. Minimal grubs in their team and they play an exciting brand of football. Of course I hope we flog them come Sunday. ;-) And I can understand the hate for the Broncos. But it's not like I can just say, "Oh, we've been given a leg up, I should probably support someone else."

What ya mean Broncos fans haven't experienced hard times. We missed the finals a few years ago I'll have you know.
