Lafai

I am going to go against the grain here but I think aitken over lafai for round 1. Lafai can play but Euan arguably had a better season than him last year and I think deserves his shot to keep his place. I think lafai should fight for his spot. Obviously I am an advocate for the Dugan to right centre and Mann for the fullback spot. I'd also have mata'utia on the wing with Milne as the smokey. The great thing is we actually have quality depth across the park for next season.

Lafai is a gun plus an additional goal kicker.. Lafai is a god send a specialist left sided centre.. Great buy!!

Five years in first grade averaging 6 tries a year and unremarkable in defence. One good season. A pop gun. Not really what we need right now.

That hi-lites reel for Lafai is almost as good as the Nabuli one that was posted last year.

I can only guess the Grubs are picking up a large % of his salary. Otherwise it's looking like an O'Brian, Rose or Neilson-like signing.

The trials will sort out who starts where.
What a great situation to be in.
Contrast to last year where we started with dross and had to push Euan in early.

We couldn't even field a full backline last year. Five different guys tried to jag the last spot and nobody did. Now we have so much competition that we don't even know who to pick. Happy days. As for people criticing Lafai they obviously don't watch many dogs games. The ball went the opposite way all year.

I am happy that we have signed him.
We will have injuries / soo and form fluctuations to cover through out the season.
Last season we struggled when injuries hit.
Start the trials as follows and let them earn their spots.
1 Mann
2 Nightingale
3 Aitken
4 Dugan
5 Lafai
6 Widdop
7 Marshall

Lafai will NOT play on the wing.

Very disappointed with this signing, I was really hoping for Roberts (reasonable to assume we're out of the running now).

Apart from adding depth, which is a good thing if it comes at a good price, he's an average first grade player. We shouldn't sacrifice the development of Aitken for this guy. Someone with the class of Roberts is a different story.

Agree, I would be willing to cut Aitken and Matui (whatever his name is) from the roster to sign Roberts.
1.Roberts
2.Nightingal
3.Lafai
4.Dugan
5.Mann
6.Widdop
7.Marshall

Why all the love for Roberts?sure he is fast with ability but his defence is suss & he does need to back it up next season.
For the reputed $500k i wouldn't be too quick to spend that sort of dosh on a player who has been sacked by 2 clubs & walked out on another. FFS we sign a regular nrl player with ability & 1/2 the people on here are not happy.

Choc Mundine defense sucked too, but didn't he create some sensational game breaking opportunities week in week out.

Keep aitken in the team at the expense of lafai. Aitkens stat's from last fully justify his selection over lafai.

f**k me dead, you all carry on as if Aitken is some kind of superstar who doesn't deserve to lose his place. He's a young kid who had a solid 2015. That's it. Lafai is a much more proven left centre. If Aitken's feelings get hurt because Lafai pushes him down the pecking order, then tough luck.

At last someone with some commonsense. Gee what does Aitken have to do to prove his worth as a member of our backline for yrs to come? We fall over ourselves to dump players because a 'gun' centre, is on the market. Yet we expect players to loyal to the Red V.
