So I keep hearing predictions, or suggestions, that Parra will/should give up on this year and focus on 2017.

So the Eels wont be playing for points unless they are under the cap. What if they are not under by next round ?

Surely the NRL cant just let them continue to field a non-compliant team. It's bad enough that they have already beaten teams this year whilst over the cap, but it can be argued that the NRL didnt know they were over, until this week.

However moving forward, how could the NRL knowingly let the competition continue to be compromised ? The threat of playing for no points is not enough, when it clearly disadvantages other teams.

If the Eels continue to attempt to field a non-compliant team, the NRL must step in and not allow that to happen. Perhaps they could temporarily de-register the player/players that were last to join the roster, to enforce they cant play over the cap.

Thoughts on this ?

Your last sentence is idiotic.

But so is the situation. Letting a team deemed non-compliant play only to wreck other teams season serves no purpose. Neither does penalising the teams already defeated. Nor does deducting 12 points just because that is how many the Eels have now. Complete the report next week at it would be 14. If Greenberg and his mates at HQ had any idea this could have been dealt with pre-season and the penalty would be zero.

In the meantime, some people find all this logical and support what is happening. No idea why. "Go admin" I suppose. Strange team to support.

Not sure you can lay any blame on the NRL lol. I'm sure they would rather not be having to deal with this the week before an International test weekend

From their perspective probably perfect. Keeps the NRL on the back page instead of the test build up.

The timing was their choice. No-one else's.

Not sure you can complain about the timing when the investigation was hampered the entire process by Parra officials.

I wont argue that you think my suggestion is idiotic, and it was merely a suggestion. However, the NRL must step in and do something, if Parra still try to field a team over the cap next round.

However I will argue the part in bold. I think it's entirely reasonable to dock them all points accumulated whilst over the cap.

Of course most of us support what is happening. Your team has been found to be systemically cheating, and they are now being punished. Yes, Go Admin! Without them your team would still be cheating the rest of the competition.

Ryan Morgan released and signed with Storm. Not sure what he was worth? Short term deal with option to return next season. And so it begins.....

Why not leave it and penalise them more? It is pretty random.

I am not complaining about the timing - fact is the timing of release of the report was entirely up to the NRL. There have been plenty of leaks up to this point. They chose to release this on Tuesday morning. It wasn't accidental.

They said the press conference on Tuesday, that the report was finalised last week. It then took them another week to decide on the punishments. If this is true, it's not really random at all.

I have it on very good authority that superstar Ryan Morgan was on roughly two million a season. Gets us under the cap, with enough left to re-sign our players who are actually good. :sarcasm:

Perhaps to give the club 2 weeks to work on becoming compliant with the cap rather than a single week turn around, pretty much forcing them to play a game immediately for no points.

that was happening regardless and he is on minimal, guessing about $150 to $200K so we can deduct 5/12ths of f**k all

all helps I guess

we only need to find $570K if we were right on the cap limit but word is we were weren't, allegedly

If Watmong retires we could be very fortunate

I guess you missed the part about cash payments to players directly from the club ?

That hasn't been proven. The dirty 5 did this to our club why any eels fan is denying it
I can't comprehend they've been proved to be guilty accept and move on
This could be the best thing to happen at parra get a brand new board someone who I has a brain not Fitzgerald. And move on .

This would be exactly the reason.

NRL giving them a chance they don't deserve!

You may be right however.
It can be,considered idiotic to ask posters like yourself and ryano their thoughts.
