Current form means f**k all in terms of their contract worth they would've signed 2-3 years ago

Back when majority of those players signed Roosters wERE winning MPs, going deep into the finals etc. not to mention they were pretty much all playing rep footy at the time.

I'd probs take Tupou, Guerra (not really any worse then what we have) and maybe Fergo if we can get him cheap provided we don't lose Teddy

Seriously? As i said, Topou re-signed when there were no decent offers, Gordon is on sfa, SKD does not command big dollars. I would estimate in 2017 this is what they are on.

1. Gordon 180k
2. Topoy 170k
3. Mitchell 450k
4. Ferguson 500k
5. SKD 300k
6. Keary 400k
7. Pearce 800k

Total 2.8m

2018

1. Tedesco 900k
2. Topou 275k
3. Mitchell 450k
4. Manu 200k
5. Fergurson 550k (though i think he may go)
6. Keary 400k
7. Pearce 850k

Total 3.625m.

Worst case, no where near 5m.

Broncos can't go anywhere near the Sharks and Knights offer. Bird would have to take a significant pay cut to do it. In my opinion its a long shot and its between the Knights and the Sharks.

1.2 Mill is the rumor, interesting.. didn't have him as the one to replace Ben Hunt, have to trust Wayne on this one

LOL

sure.

At what point do NRL fans actually admit we have a massive equity problem, and it makes a joke of the competition?

Or is it all fine as long as it isn't your club?

12 different premiers since 1998, every club has made a prelim in that time including yours in 2013.

You've just signed the hottest young talent in the NRL, have some faith in your club to turn it around ffs.

It's been reported that it's not in the same ball park was info I was going from the courier mail

"THE Broncos are on the verge of landing a major recruitment coup by securing Cronulla’s State of Origin star Jack Bird to solve their halves shortage.

Bird, 22, is expected to finalise his future this week and the Broncos are confident they will land his signature.

The Bird development came as the Broncos discovered they will be without halfback Ben Hunt (hamstring) for six weeks, allowing Kodi Nikorima to press his claims for the No. 7 jersey.

Brisbane have been secretly courting Bird for two months, holding multiple meetings and tabling an attractive three-year offer to the Blues utility.

While the money is short of the near $1 million-a-season on offer from Newcastle, Bird has a desire to be coached by seven-time premiership winner Wayne Bennett.

Bennett was coach of the Dragons in 2011 when a teenage Bird was coming through St George Illawarra’s junior system.

The sustained success of the Broncos is also a lure compared to Newcastle, who are in contention for a third consecutive wooden spoon.

The Broncos are viewing Bird as a five-eighth option for 2018 to partner Anthony Milford, who will shift to halfback in place of Dragons-bound Hunt."

Who would want this the most? Tigers or Eels fans?

He was good against the Cowboys...

Dunno. If he could play like he did last night on a consistent basis I wouldn't mind seein him still in Tigers colours

He's probably realising coach Cleary can get this team somewhere.
