Look I am sure he will go well at another club. I just don't think that he is a massive loss. We have aitken, lafai, mann and maybe dodd all capable of doing as well a job as milne.
I say clam down and move on.
Remember the forum being completely obsessed with signing luciano leilua otherwise millward should be sacked, ra ra ra.
Those same people are saying leilua is overweight and nowhere near 1st grade? Huh?

Crush
I can see what your saying.
But we need to sign them Lafai ,mann both remain unsigned.

Re the argument Aitken V Milne IMO Milne last year showed real progress and ability and deserved a shot 1st up in 2017.
He didn't get it, so now perhaps the issue is attitude as there is no doubt that Aitken is a high distinction in respect of discipline, attitude, training, fitness level and being compliant to culture.
Milne did have issues at Easts perhaps (not saying is) there might be an underlying problem.

OT isn't big on the facts once he has made his mind up.
Nah, dugan isn't injury prone, thats a myth....besides the FACT that he misses a chunk of games EVERY season through injury:rolleyes:
FMD you keep going on about Dugan
Get a list of the games he has missed and what the injuries were.
Injuries caused by crusher tackles and broken jaws are not injury prone they are as a result of illegal play.
If he was injury prone he would keep braking his jaw and crushing his vertebrae.
All these blokes are highly tuned and susceptible to an injury but that does not make them injury prone.
Please present your facts re the injuries that make him "prone".
Now you slipped that in when we were talking about Lafai being a top 3 centre in the comp so do you agree with that call?

Dugan is currently out with a hamstring injury and if I had a dollar for every time he's had knee or neck problems, I could retire.

Yep was supposed to be out for 4-6 back in 2-3.
If you want you retire I am happy to give you a $1 for every week he has missed for a knee or a neck injury (not crusher related) please advise the details and what gutter you will be living in during your retirement as you won't get rich on that bet.
By the way how many games a season do you think is legitimate for a player to miss without being called injury prone?

I feel like if you miss five or more a year with at least two different incidents, you've a problem. That's almost a quarter of the season.

What is it about Dugan that makes you love him so much? I could understand if he was like Thurston or Smith and was winning us games regularly but he's not so what's your man crush all about?

Its a shame Milne is leaving us, but I have to admit Our centres are playing very good at the moment.

You can not drop Aitken and Lafai on their current form, the only problem is almost any centre would look with the way the whole team has played the last 2 weeks and let's admit the opponents haven't been too crash hot.

The next 4 weeks will be the true test

Love how you blokes resort to that ridiculous style of comment.
I have posted plenty on Dugan and what I believe he brings to this club so go back and read them instead of the using the cheap throw away line.
You say he doesn't win games of the club but I say he has saved many games so is that not a form of winning?
By the way just on the subject of Duges not winning many games for us our win % without him is 33% so how does that fit into your analysis?
Anyway I look forward to hearing back from you guys re the injury data so we can analyse it correctly.

If Milne is being allowed to go then there must be a good reason and I think its his defense that is the main concern. Watch him tackle, his front defense it woeful and gets knocked more times than he actually effects a tackle. The other issue has to be connected to attitude. The Roosters let him go due to this and maybe they are underlying with us as well. Yes he has a great attacking flair, but if he leaves so be it!
We have enough young stock to cover for him who show great potential.
Herbert, Garrick, Dodd, Zac Lomax (keep your eye on this one), Johns and even Izaac Thompson (who is an absolute monster), but I doubt we will re-sign him.

Milne is a very good player and plenty of potential...however Lafai in top form is a proven performer and a game breaker. In the environment we're in surely we will lose some players with so many we need to re-sign....It's sad to see Milne go though as I rate him highly....

It's a shame if true. He got his chance when we couldn't play to save ourselves(and handled it quite well)Now he can't get a look in on account of the form the team is in. Something must have happened in pre season for him to fall down the pecking order(I don't buy the 'Lafai trained the house down' so he gets first chance). He will be a good pick up for the Tigers.

Defense is more important then attack.

Lafai is one of the premier defending centres in the comp.

The best we've had since Coops, absolutely destroyed Dylan Walker on the weekend who tore the roosters apart the week before
You say that Lafai is one of the premiere defending centres in the comp. I thought he ws shown up in defence many times last year.

We have lost 2/3rds of the games played when Dugan has been out injured.

I'm growing tired of this forum - people just whine about every player - what true saints fans would want to bag an SOO and Australian rep player in the big red V is beyond me.

Keyboard wimps - I would like to see some of your morons play for your country.

We should be proud with have rep players in our club.

I don't want to let him go but he wants $1mil per season and he's simply not worth that much coin. Neither is Hunt for that matter but that's a whole other issue. You need to manage your roster in a way that means you get value for money and having more than one player on $1 mil is going to bite us in the backside in the line by run a la post-Bennett era.

We have a 47% win rate with him (which is better, I admit, BUT still a losing record) and he has actually not missed that many games through injury. His first season was bad but since then he's been all right.

Fair enough, I was wrong about his injuries.

I need to be clear, though; I don't want to let him go. I just know that he isn't worth $1 mil a season. If that's his demands, we need to cut him loose because we can't afford that much coin on two players.

I agree with you JD - my post was entirely aimed at keyboard wimpy people who don't rate him. They are morons and should follow another sport because Dugan is a great player. I'm proud he is in the red V.

I hope he and the club can find common ground - saints stuck out their necks and saved him from his off field mistakes. We all make them but he has matured and is now a role model. He should remember what we did but we should also pay him a market rate.

A good leadership team would negotiate a win/win with a bloke like Duges.
