The saints/illawarra merger was in part acceptable due to a lack of colour clash.

Well, at least you're more aware of your failings PR in the context of the Gospel according to My Little Pony.
Stallion your a genius, no more stressing who to cut from the struggling and over populated nswrl nrl, simply look at jerseys and see who mergers best. Outstanding work.
You follow a team because you like their jersey? Yeh right.
You blokes are unbelievable! I happened to shine toward the Easts Roosters tricolour jumper and that was my first image of a rugby league game on tv during a daytime grandfinal in the 70s. From then on I have been a supporter,
And as I keep telling you MLP, you saying it repeatedly doesn't make it any more accurate. It's a concept you clearly struggle with as it forms the basis of your arguments. But keep trying old mate.Says the guy who goes back on what he agrees with!Lol

I can understand you not wanting to answer my argument, lots of people get embarrassed when their faults are pointed out. You going off on a tangent is to avoid that is completely understandable. The 'concept' of continuing to be a hypocrit like yourself is something I do struggle with and not aspire to.

Thought you would have that spin on it. It befits the ignorant stance you have provided for most of your comments.
Don't be shy, you've clearly articulated that mergers work as long as brand integration works. You've solved the issue, let's get on and merge those Sydney teams with brand integration possibility and clear the way for expansion.
Funnily the AFL have expanded without carving up its Melbourne based clubs! The swans were a relocation of the Bloods and Brisbane bears/lions a relocation of the Fitzroy Lions . From those relocations onwards the AFL expanded without carving up its foundation Melbourne based clubs. They have intelligently expanded in the proper way without alienating established fan bases in Melbourne and elsewhere for that matter. Take heed PR. The growth of the AFL has not caused damage to the core of the game. Unlike your standpoint that is clearly advocating damage to what's left of the rugby league in Sydney. We can regain some of the damage already done like giving the Magpies a life in South Australia etc but you don't slash and burn established markets that are known throughout the nation that are in Sydney. Expand with additional clubs which is what should be done not cause this vulnerable code more internal bleeding for its fans and an increased lack of confidence in general public perception of the code at large.
They are as screwed as we are, they just have more money and compliant clubs that fall into line on funding agreements in the short term so have not had to deal with it just now. If you look at the club grant allocations in last afl annual report some of the biggest grants had to go to Melbourne clubs because they are in an over saturated market same as nrl in Sydney. And as you said they have relocated two teams and tried desperately to relocate two more.
Your a roosters fans I beleve. How would you feel if, being a wealthy club, the roosters nrl grant next year was say $9mill so that wests could be $16mill to keep everyone viable? That's what's happening in the afl. Geelong got a grant of $11mill whilst st kilda got $18.5mill
But back to your Ingenious solution for dealing with this problem. Whose brands do you think fit well and we can let nrlhq know to get on and merge them so we can get national growth underway..

Now that we have this great solution I think that we should merge the Bulldogs and Roosters.
Maybe we should throw in Saints to, that way they're red, white, and blue.
More constructive solutions from the peanut gallery?! You blokes dont have a feel for the game at all. Your whole stance is reckless.
What your saying is a club should be chosen around teams colours. That is such a small part of what makes a club and a silly reason to use. Titans went with there colours, name and emblem but with limited success and that was all researched.
You using the fact that teams should merger based on colours is the reason you have lost everyone on this topic.
Despite other people pointing out the significance of branding and what it is you still cant get the message. From what Im seeing the AFL is going well ahead and they are not carving up their foundations to expand!
You clearly stated the deciding factor for Wests and tigers to get together was easy incorporation of their two brands into one, and that success can come from that. We are all agreeing with you! get on and find some more mergers where brands will work in a jersey and let's clear some space for Perth and brisbane2, then Adelaide and nz2. Over to you stallion whose brands shall we merge for the good of the game?
