I can't believe that people are actually comparing this to us losing Fittler.... come on people.

Maloney will be the better player over the next two seasons.

It's hardly the end of the world.

I just Hope Moylan kicks on and doesn't end up drinking his own piss in Northies....

Aren't we comparing us and the Sharks and who got the better deal?

Surely adding a test half to a team with better attack improves them?

You maybe were, but I wasn’t. I was talking about getting juniors to stay and Griffins role that in the comments you replied to...

Would be the 3rd rated halves combination next year behind

Thurston/Morgan
Cronk/Keary (Pearce?)

then
Cleary/Maloney

Depends where Pearce ends up really. Quite a few sides have one very good half and one questionable one.

Well lets look at Cleary.
He has played in 4 Semi finals before turning 20
Broke the record for youngest ever top pointscorer
As a team we averaged 21 points a game last season.
He has got some mates from juniors to play along side him.
Can earn $1m+ a season

But hey just because you don't the coach means he will go

Hes a half that barely sets up tries.

2016 stats:
Maloney - 7 tries, 10 linebreaks, 10 linebreak assists, 9 try assists
Moylan - 4 tries, 5 linebreaks, 27 linebreak assists, 21 try assists

2016 was Maloney at his best and Moylan f**king crushed him as a playmaker.

2017 stats:
Maloney - 4 tries, 7 linebreaks, 10 linebreak assists, 12 try assists
Moylan - 8 tries, 8 linebreaks, 14 linebreak assists, 8 try assists

Maloney isnt some genius playmaker. It might look like success follows him. But Roosters added SBW and Jennings to their side aswell. Sharks added Ennis and Barba. Both teams had great defence and could cover a terrible defender who gave away penalties.

We are nothing like those teams. Our defence is soft. We miss easy tackles and concede easy tries. Repeat sets against us is almost certain to result in a try.

Tamou was a premiership winner too. Winning a premiership doesnt make a player great. Any player can waltz into a team at the right time and win one. That sure as hell isnt about to happen with us in 2018. We will be sliding down the ladder. Not going top 4.

Coote and Austin have done ok since Graham left.

Now Moylan & TMM.

People are right to be questioning the roster management
No. Gus cant make mistakes. Losing players who win go on to win premierships is just bad luck. Nothing Gus could do to keep them.

Gus is the biggest issue. Hook is next... but hes a result of Gus. We had a squad capableof greatness in 2016. That's been torn apart. In 12 months.

I pretty much want whatever Moylan wants. If he wants to be a Panther, and he's willing to commit to what that means (on and off the field), then I want him in our team.

However, if he doesn't want that, he is absolutely no loss at all, and I'll be glad to see the back of him.

Team harmony, culture, respect and work ethic is far more important than flashes of brilliance in my book.

If he kicks on at the Sharks and reaches his potential, so be it, but considering how he carries on around Penrith, I dread to imagine what he'll be like once he's around dopes like Dugan, Fifita and Segeyaro on a full-time basis.

Maloney will be great for us. He is super competitive, aggressive, has been successful at multiple clubs. And he's a professional. He may miss a few tackles, and give away penalties - but you can work around those deficiencies as a team.

You can't learn how to have a good attitude, or how to be accountable for your actions to your club/coach and teammates. The only one capable of rectifying that is Matt Moylan. And unfortunately, he's shown what a cat he is, and revealed his true colours.

Melbourne as a team give away a lot of penalties, but you would hardly call that a deficiency.

Also - lets not forget that Maloney won a comp partnering wit Chad Townsend.... I'll repeat that..... Chad Townsend

Chad Townsend created more tries than Maloney in 2016. Hes not that bad.

Sharks try assists
Barba - 18
Townsend - 13
Ennis - 12
Maloney - 9

Take Barba and Ennis away. Sharks finish below us.

Sharks are great at identifying players who will boost their squad. They know Moylan is better than Maloney all things being similar. Moylan will be better at a team with a coach that coaches and a decent forward pack.

How many of those Moylan tries and Try Assists was when he was FB? Chad Townsend had 8 try assists so what does say about him? maybe different tactics over there

Also some other stats that are important for a half

Moylan ave 2.8 kicks per game. For 37.7m per game. 0 40/20
Maloney ave 5.5 kicks per game. For 125.5m per game 1 40/20
