WHAT A SHOCK ...old BILLY on here blaming every single thing on Griffin. Gee some people post shit on here. Billy if you hate the coach and Gus so much, they are so out of their depth at their jobs, why dont you make your life so much more easy and just piss off and follow some other team...... dead set I have not seen a positive post from you in 3 yrs..... I dead set dont get it... who has so much hate for the leaders of a footy club, and spends his whole life winging about it. Give it up move on ....might make you feel better.

Anyone would think we came last not made the finals. We had the same coach and mostly players when we were 2/7 as we did at the end of the year. Everyone improved to turn it around players, coaches etc

I've said this before, but it's really weird how quickly supposedly positive pro-club posters are here to launch personal attacks on people that disagree with them. So I think you're wrong...big deal.

No where have I said it was all Griffin that was good or bad. It is you either making up shit to be a knob or are slow and can't read

As for pro club. I have said many times we have stuffed our roster up. I direct the blame where it is due not where I want it to go

Take away a great forward pack
Take away resilient defence
Take away structure.
That's why we were still alive after the Sharks were lounging on Kuta Beach. They DO have a good forward pack, but it was outplayed when it counted. Their defence was breached and their structure was non-existant. All they could do was give away penalties and whinge when they were beaten.

I’m sure franklin will come back with “Maybe Maloney has to make more tackles” so here it is:

Maloney:
Average tackles made: 13.7
Average missed: 6.1
%missed of total attempted: 30.8

Moylan:
Average tackles made: 11.1
Average missed: 2.7
%missed of total attempted: 19.6

So what are peoples thoughts on what makes a successful season?

For mine anything less than top 4 is a failure. We have spent huge money of Maloney. Merrin and Tamou. At the expemse of some very talented players.

Cleary is no longer a rookie. RCG is now an international prop. 3/4s of our backline are top tier country international players (NZ/AUS). Edwards should be primed for a breakout season....

Disagree with this. Cleary is still a rookie. He has played less than 50 FG games and is still only 19 playing in a position which is the most important in the team. You need to put things into context. Cronk debuted in FG at age 20 so Cleary has a head start on him.

I read a ridiculous comment here a only few days ago already predicting that Nathan Cleary won't rise to the heights of Alexander, Fittler or Gower. Absolute drivel. He can rival Brandy and even go on to be the best but he needs to stay at the club. Cronk's and Brooks's contracts end at the same time as Cleary's. I am more happy to see Moylan go if we can retain Cleary long term.

Moylan is a good player, only a fool would argue that, but he's still unproven playing in the front line. Maloney has experience in big games and I think will compliment Cleary. Maloney had a bad season this year but I think he had his next contract on his mind. He was only focused on the cash. Coming into a new and young side with a pay increase should have him focused on footy again.

As for the season ahead, like you a minimum of a top eight finish but we should be pushing top four.

Cleary will also never be a superstar, just lacks that natural skill needed to reach those hights. Think he will have a career similar to Cronk. Which is obviously still one hell of a player, Gower was that type as well imo

As I said on numerous occasions on here Moylan was never going to wear Panther colours in 2018. His off field issues and poisonous relationship with the coach was always going to result in his leaving the club despite the obvious denials from all concerned. He is leaving for a new club with a four year deal on reportedly a much more than dollars that he was on with us. Good luck to him, hopefully a new environment will be good for him but I'm not so sure. If I were a Sharks fans I would have grave concerns about a Moylan/Townsend halves combination going forward.

As regards our club being a trainwreck as alluded by so many on here I listened with interest to a radio interview with the new Titans head coach Garth Brennan in the week after he was appointed. He was not asked about Gus Gould by his interviewers but went out of his way to thank him and could not have been more complimentary about the way the club is being run. Given where we were not too long ago is it amusing to read some of the rubbish written on here about our club.

As regard James Maloney, assuming he stays fit and healthy, I think he will be very good for us in the short term and given his experience, kicking game he will compliment Nathan Cleary perfectly.

Of course we can’t hold on to them all, but we have now lost some pretty good ones in Gus’ period.

Lewis
Jennings
Graham
Moylan
Austin
Coote

We should really be getting some salary cap concessions for producing players for other teams.

I think it is generally acknowledged our salary cap was a real 'mess' at the time Lewis, Jennings and Coote were let go as well as the fact the players were running the asylum during that period.
